Unabashed kitty porn. Or, mah kittehs, let me show you them.

Add wavy lines representing the reek of alcohol, and runny mascara, and you’re just about there.

Acoustic, they’re fine with. Porkchop gets a little leery when I start swinging the neck around, cause hey, that might be dangerous. Fortunately, they’re never subjected to electric, since I have all that stuff in the basement, where they never go.

Banjo, though, they hate with a passion.

Ogre, I think what you did rescuing your kitten was outstanding. I remember your original thread as well, and I am glad you kept the kitteh. I know she has a good home and that she gets lots of kitty love.

All of this kitteh talk just makes me want to show off my fabulous Buddy. He was a stray too, but already quite the big boy when I got him. Please forgive me, I am a proud Mom-Cat!

Here he is. I just took this picture like five minutes ago!

I love your kittehs. I have four of them, too, and it always makes me happy (and feel less crazy) when I see other people have as many cats as I do.

Ogre, you seem like the right person to ask about this. We got our lovely Lily in January. At first I thought she was really mellow. We soon realized she was sick, and nursed her into the chubby little butterball she is today. But she is not a cuddler. I have been bribing her with treats to climb up on me, and she will occasionally lie down on my knees for a couple minutes. Once in a while we can pick her up when she’s sleepy and hold her on our shoulder. Do you think we can ever turn her into a lap cat? You seem to be a world class kitteh rescuer - any advice?

And your babies are gorgeous!!!

These are classic cats. (Heck, every cat’s a classic in my book.) Thanks for showing 'em.

In return, U can haz kitteh video.

I don’t know that you can turn a cat into anything, to be honest. Make sitting with and on you as pleasant an activity for her as possible, but some kitties, even though they like to be near their people, just aren’t cuddlers. It’s just not how they’re wired.

I’m not a cat guy but wow Euronymous looks really nice. She might be scared but she has a smile on her face.

I used to adore my cat Cajun, a skinny, scrawny, orange-striped tabby. He was like your Porkchop, a quasi-damaged kitteh that loved lovin’ more than anything else…except for maybe running the kitteh quarter mile through my old long row house apartment. He also allowed me to put my sunglasses on him and take pictures. He was so tolerant!

Sadly, on my 29th bday, Cajun, whom enjoyed climbing up my hanging clothes to sleep on the shelf/rack above, fell while asleep from his perch and broke his fucking neck in a shockingly sad, mewling fashion. I will never forget that cat death cry. I rushed him to the vet and he died in my arms. Goddammit.

That was my last kitteh. I keep doggies now. And for some reason (not related to Cajun’s death), I just don’t generally want or necessarily like cats anymore.

Sorry to shit on your thread. Somehow that was cathartic for me.

Yeah, that’s what I was afraid of. But this is my first experience with a cat that doesn’t want to be held. Very frustrating - I didn’t even know they came in that flavor! I still love her to death, tho.

Awww. Cats.

:: falls over with the cuteness ::

We used to have one that adored sitting in laps, especially when I was trying to sew, and would generally sleep piled up on your chest or back at night. Couldn’t get enough petting, either standing and wallowing, but if you tried to hold her for more than a minute or two, it was all over. Your ass was on The List, and you were staying there for a day or two. (Or until she forgot–she wasn’t a terribly bright kitty, bless her heart.)

I have a former barn kitten named Isabel and it has taken her almost three years to warm up to humans. She is still very wary about cuddling, and she hates to be picked up or held.
When I am reading she will sit on my lap for a few minutes, and she always lays on my legs when I read in bed.

Lately she loves to sleep under the covers in the crook of my arm in the early AM, especially when she thinks it is time for me to get up and feed her. So you may want to give it more time.

Wow, is she beautiful!
That’s very encouraging! I’ll give this little girl another 20 years or so, then I’m giving up!

I do hope we’ll warm her up, and we’re relentlessly loving to her. I do think she’ll come around a bit, some day. She comes over to my chair and looks for the Food Tube (The jar of treats I keep on the table) every time I sit, so she’s comfortable getting near me. Oddly enough, she lavishes attention on the dog. She’ll lay beside him and purr like a Peterbuilt while licking his fur for hours on end. It’s really sweet, although the dog always looks totally confused.
