Can’t agree with the OP-- I’d rather not have the mods here act like Nazis.
You haven’t seen our dance routines.
I saw that in college during one of the campus movie nights, and laughed so hard it hurt.
Hitler on Ice was better.
Don’t all of us have relatives who were alive during WWII? I mean, I suppose if you were an orphan in 1939, you might not, but that’s a pretty limited population.
Anyway, sorry that thread bothered you so much, but there’s nothing about it that’s even remotely against the rules.
My parents are Holocaust survivors and most of my family perished in Auschwitz, so I am very sensitive to terms like “grammar Nazi” and hate Hogan’s Heroes to the bottom of my core.
However, as much as I would rather terms relating to Nazis not be used in a more trivial way, it has become part of the cultural lexicon to describe certain types of behavior and situations. That thread is no more (or less) offensive than many references to Nazis, and really doesn’t cross any universal lines.
I get where you are coming from, but in this case, I don’t think it merits special attention.
My Nephew asked a Survivor at poolside, “Who wrote on your arm?”
I had no damn idea what to do; I cowardly walked away.
What about an inanimate carbon rod?
In regards to the thread in question: Hitler had better hair than Trump. Since Hitler was a National Socialist, wouldn’t Bernie Sanders be a closer comparison?
As you noted, the Communist Party was the de facto government in the Soviet Union.
Interesting trivia note: In China, the armed forces work for the Communist Party of China not for the government of the People’s Republic of China.
Not that I’m a Trump fan or anything, but aren’t you kinda sorta leaving yourself open to OP sticking those cadmium rods up YOUR ass?
Moderator Note
This is ATMB, so let’s leave all of the discussions of rods of various substances and what orifices they might be inserted into for a more appropriate forum.
Let’s focus on the moderation issue here, please.
Cadmium rods are used to moderate the fission reaction in nuclear power plants.

Yes, but what orifice of the power plants do they moderate.
In We Almost Lost Detroit the author describes a poor fellow nail to the ceiling by a dampening rod.
Killjoy! ![]()
Um, no, the far right is not particularly close to the left, and I’m not sure what makes you think it is.
Well, if you drive far enough south, you end up at the North Pole.
There, a terrible analogy to get right by going left.
Also if you take three rights you just made a left.
Without having read the posts in question, I think the following remark is probably appropriate:
The ACLU, a strong proponent of free speech under the First Amendment, but also strongly opposed to hate speech, has this slogan and philosophy: When free speech is a problem, the solution is more free speech!
That is, we should respond to troublesome speech with (hopefully civil and reasoned) rebuttals, not with censorship. If OP has responded to the offensive post(s) with rebuttals of his own, as he apparently did, then that was very probably the right and best and most appropriate thing to do.
Far right propaganda.
