Woldn’t surprise me if it takes a while to knock out that abscess. The damned things can be stubborn, but they also can be beat. Also, even after the infection is killed off, I’d imagine your lung will have to be clearing out the detritus for a while.
Yeh, you turn into an Internet-addicted message-board fanatic.
That is truly splendiferous news, Bosda! I’m so glad that it wasn’t your worst case scenario after all. I have been praying for you and your mom, and I’m very happy that she is home and on the mend as well. Keep up the good work (taking those icky antibiotics) and you’ll be right as rain in no time.

I’ve been lurking in this thread, and I’m so glad it’s not cancer, Bosda. But now I’m wondering how the hell one gets an abcess inside their organs. The only ones I’ve ever heard of before are in one’s mouth, and in the case of one unfortunate kitty on his butt after some bizarre butt injury. In any case I hope the antibiotics have you on the med soon. I hope your mom is feeling better too.
I just discovered this thread. I’m glad things worked out well for you, Bosda. A little while before I went on “hiatus” a few years back, the V.A. doctors discovered a “shadow” on my lung. It was an interminable wait to get a cat scan, and then quite a while before I could find out the results (veterans’ medical results must be passed through several layers of bureaucracy before it’s considered “official” ).
Fortunately, I didn’t have cancer. They did, however diagnose a problem I developed when I was stationed in Korea. they said “It’s like athsma, except you don’t get the attacks.” Basically, I have to take an expectorant on bad days to keep the pipes cleared out. If I don’t, it’s hard to get a full breath of air. Other than that, I’m okay.
IANAD, but once they get rid of the abcess it may eliminate some of your other bronchial troubles.
