@VOW nailed it!
To be sure. I met some of my best friends here, though they don’t post much anymore.
I’m up for it, as long as I can bring Vienna. She’d love to meet the meezers.
I have said from nearly day one I have found a home away from home here on the Dope.
If anyone tells me this place has no worth and is out dated I will punch them squarely in the nose.
I’m a late comer and still newbie-ish enough to marvel at the Charter members and all the old threads. It fascinates me that people have been here so long and have been so loyal.
I just love this place on the internet and all the folks here.
And the feeling is quite mutual, @Beck.
This is why I so strongly dislike these kinds of threads. It’s all a popularity contest, and just when you think nothing could be worse than not being mentioned at all …
To be fair, there are a lot of posters whose contributions I usually enjoy. Just because I haven’t mentioned a name doesn’t mean they’re not on that list.
Then go with the ‘post’ option. I don’t normally follow Stranger directly, but when I bumped his post (and the follow-up I didn’t quote) I nearly spat my drink on my computer laughing. I’ve found people I disliked that still had that one gleaming, jewel-like post.
I haven’t posted any because I don’t know where to start; and for that matter don’t know where to stop.
I like that people are spotlighting great posts. Like threadspotting made small. This also gives more opportunity for less prolific posters to have their valuable contributions recognized.
I’m going to call this out as a post I really like. Very meta, SW.
Sorry Dude.
@Ann_Hedonia is back in extra fine form today (warning, PIT link)
I try to avoid some of the political posts because not everyone has the same politics, but it is an incredibly well written and amusing post mocking a political Trump apologist (to the extreme) who has recently been cast aside by Trump. Bring tissues to wipe your eyes if you enjoy reading this sort of thing.
Oh sweet Jesus, that’s beautiful. “Airport motel hookers” was a particularly nice touch.
I’ve said before that if we didn’t have @Beckdawrek, we’d have to invent her.
And @BippityBoppityBoo too!
I enjoy @kenobi_65 's posts.
Such a nice fellow.
Since my last recommendation was full of a certain sardonic smirk, back to a post that reminds me that my smugness is sometimes at the cost to others.
All credits to @Mangetout of course.
This one from @Measure_for_Measure
Collective guilt is a concept which should be resisted. Collective responsibility is another matter: among those responsibilities is a commitment to the truth.
(Thread has been closed so I can’t link to it.)
@GIGObuster and @Stranger_On_A_Train have been mentioned already, but those two, as well as @jshore, for fighting the good fight. If we really are about fighting ignorance, they’ve done stellar work over the years.
