Unrequited love songs

This may be the place to find a song my girlfriend desperately wants
circa 1994 done by a one-hit wonder girl band
it’s really got a stalkerish feel to it and the key (i.e. only) part my gf remembers is something about waiting or standing by his gate or something.

I’ve been hunting for 2 years and about to have her hypnotised to get more info on the song. (I’m only half-joking about that last part.)

My favorite unrequited love song of all time: Mary’s Prayer by Meet Danny Wilson.

Choked me up when I was a teen, chokes me up now.

“Crying” by Roy Orbison

“Just My Imagination” by the Temptations

“Midnight Confessions” by the Grass Roots

That’s as close as I’ll get to Loving You sung by Aaron Tippin. Great song:

I won’t be there when you need holding
But I’m sure that he can pull you through
But I can sing this song to everybody
And pretend it’s not about you

That’s as close as I’ll get to loving you
Even though there’s nothing else I’d rather do
I can dream, I can hope, I can scheme but still I know
That’s as close as I’ll get to loving you

That’s as close as I’ll get to loving you
Even though there’s nothing else I’d rather do

Somone Else’s Star sung by Bryan White. Not quite unrequited love song, but close enough to depress me when I was younger and alone…again.

I guess I must be wishing on someone else’s star.
It seems like someone else keeps gettin what I’m wishing for.
Why can’t I be as lucky as those other people are?
I guess I must be wishing, on someone else’s star.

It’s a bit elliptical in places, but

You Were Right by Badly Drawn Boy.
