Upon ending my MA program - a reflective MMP

Way to go, rosie. Tomorrow a trip to the doctor, the day after it’ll be a trip to the bar for some medicinal refreshments.

swampy too bad it’s not the Yuengling plant you’ll be temping at. I’d tell them to just pay me in kegs of the lager and Black & Tans.

We had a storm last night too. Started at about 2 o’dark, and it woke us all up. Have you seen The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, when Mickey Mouse is on the top of that mountain playing with the weather? This storm last night beat that. In fact, I think I saw Mickey getting blown across the yards when I looked out the window. It knocked down trees and relocated lawn furniture all over my neighborhood (yet strangely, left ours alone.)

Cat update: Took our other cat to the vet monday. She’s FIV negative. And since the only cat contact she has is with Rascal, there’s got to be a false positive on his test last month. But Toy also has red, inflamed gums, so we have to give her antibiotics too. She doesn’t take them as well as Rascal did. So now, twice a day, we sneak up on her, wrap her in a towel to keep her from shredding our arms and torsos with her back claws, and give her 25cc of it that way.

Rascal, however, now is jealous. Because she’s getting all the attention now and not him.

Remember last year I said I stood next to Rudy Boesch in a beer line at a function at the Amphib Base in Virginia Beach? Well, the same thing is going on again this week. I’m just waiting for the call from my boss to hit this again today after work. I even went out and got me a haircut and new shoes at lunch.

ETA: LiLi, you and the Husbands really do need to buy a home. Other than not having anyone else turn off your water, NijaKid will really appreciate a yard to goof off in.

Drive by to say:

  1. woo hoo, BioRosie !!!
  2. good on you for stopping, Bobbio
  3. the hail!
  4. CherryBaby
  5. :frowning: no water :frowning:
  6. Hope headaches and other illnesses are gone
  7. Happy Anniversary, Bobbio!!

Back when I’m done in the garden to cover anything that I forgot.

GT

The most productive thing I’ve done today is take Maggie to the dog park. Today’s owner topic was “Pound induced mental traumas”. The we came home and napped.

Yay Rosie! Since you’re walking and driving, can you swing by the store and pick me up some beer for the game tonight?

Ellen, the last time we had hail around here, Maggie tried to crawl into my shirt. Cherrybaby is adorable.

Happy Svelte Day, bobbio!!

LiLi, shouldn’t they give you some warning? Yay for the lack of puking, though.

Rebo, hope your pup get better soon.

URP Excuse me. I’m so full! We went to Sonny’s BBQ and I et me some babyback ribs, baked beans and fries. I brought some ribs home for lunch tomorrow and ACBG has enough bbq pork leftover to make him a sammich for lunch tomorrow. They give ya a lot of food at Sonny’s!

LiLi perhaps I missed the reason, but why do they keep turnin’ the water off in your building? It stinks that they apparently are not givin’ any warnings first.

Rebo hope Lucy’s better soon, poor thing!

Not much to report on from da cave. Due to the fullness on the part of both parties, appreciation may not ensue tonight. It’s hard to appreciate when the appreciatee is sittin’ around groanin’ and moanin’ and sayin’ “I’m sooooooo full!”

You went to Sonny’s?!?!? You lucky duck!!! <pout> OK, it’s not as good as Woody’s, but it’s tons better than anything around here. Lucky duck.

We’re back from all of our errands. Garbage and recycling are disposed of. I got my meds and some silky cordage. We picked up the stuff from the boat. And I got cookies for Bernie. I should probably water my houseplants. They look thirsty. Yep…

Is it Friday yet?

FCM, those kitty pots are so cute! Too bad about the doggy dishes and hope that you’re able to solve the problem with the medallions sticking, because I think they look great and will probably sell like hot cakes for ya.

Hah, now I’ve got a picture of Swampy and ACBG sitting around groaning … thanks for that image now, Swampy!!

You know how I get - I start my post, then promptly forget all I want to say and who I want to congratulate, etc.! GAH!! Well, three down and two to go until Friday … actually, only one day to go and then it’s Friday. LOL Today was my 30th anniversary at work!! I could possibly retire on my birthday in September!! But I won’t, because it wouldn’t be enough money to live on. Nice to know that option is there, though.

Enjoy your evening, all.

Ooooh, barbeque. I love barbeque. Could you shove some through the cd drive for me?
They’re fixing… something… in the water system. The problem was that they were supposed to do it on Tuesday. They had posted times and everything. So they shut the water off unexpectedly on Monday instead, for six or eight hours. And today they’ve shut it off for five hours, so far. I can’t wash dishes or my hands, make dinner, or do anything water-related. I’m sure what they’re doing is important, but I would really, really like some warning so I can fill the bathtub and kettle.
I dunno. Maybe if it isn’t back on by the time Mr. Lissar gets home we’ll order pizza. We can’t make dinner without water. We’ve called the landlady and left a message, and we’ll call again later.

Did I mention we’re sittin’ around groanin’ in our underwear? :stuck_out_tongue:

We ain’t surprised.

Altho we are somewhat unnerved, bordering on disturbed… :stuck_out_tongue:

No need to be. We’re in our good underwear. You know the kind you wouldn’t be ashamed to run outside wearin’ in case of fire.

So now I’m visualizing **swampy ** in Batman underoos and **ACBG ** in Spiderman underoos. And they both have towels clothespinned around their necks as capes.

Yay, Rosie!

Swampy, I guarantee you that I can make better barbecue than Sonny’s; however, you’d have to wait a few hours for it.

I’ve got some good news; the place I started working at called me up and offered me more hours. It’s enough to be their equivalent of full time (26 hours one week, 34 the next), and I’ll be bringing in enough money so that we don’t have to worry too much about paying the bills and having a teensy bit leftover for things like saving for a bad month or splurging on a movie once or twice this summer. Woooo!

Additionally, I wanted to introduce you guys to [my fish]/url]; their names are Aloysius Pendergast, Nobby Nobbs, and Tuffy Rumblebutt III. [URL=Photo Storage]Here they are during feeding time](http://picasaweb.google.com/nashiitashii/Fishies/photo#5073091903900055842) At least they’re enthusiastic about eating and entertaining for the dog.

(Edit on preview: No, I don’t know why, but the url won’t do as it’s told for me. Help?)

your first “[ / url ]” had a backwards “]” but it’s fixed

eta: the fishies are cute, I especially like the big green one that doesn’t move

Has anyone ever told you you’d make a great Drill Instructor, swampy. The dishwasher is running as I type. Now can I have dessert? Pleeeeeeeeeease? makes Bambi eyes

Productivity update:
Done: dishes, car estimate appointment
To do tonight: pay bills
To do tomorrow: go through medical insurance statements

Feel free to harangue me again tomorrow. swampy.

:smack: :smack: :smack: This is why having other people proofread is a good thing. Thank you!

Um…he’s cute and all, but he looks smug to me. Of course he should go around looking contrite and crestfallen for messing with OUR Haze. The fact that he isn’t is a HUGE strike against him. And the blazer’s got to go–he looks like a Graduate wannabe (Dustin Hoffman–never mind).
Well, today I went out and took a short film of the Cicada invasion–for posterity’s sake. #2 son said it’s the worst Invasion of his life. #2 son is only 9, so it’s his first…
Work tomorrow, my LAST 12 hour shift EVAH. I made brownies for the staff because I’m NICE, DAMMIT.
Tomorrow the weather is supposed to change from this gorgeous 60s to 90+ and humid. Ugh.

Have a nice Thursday, everyone! I’m on campus this weekend–but I want to do an MMP soon (NOT next week, though).

Someone tell** Nashii** quick that Buddha has drowned!

(just had a thought–wouldn’t it be cool to put a SCUBA headgear thingy on Buddha? And have it make bubbles? I can smell the money…)

Coool fishies, nashi! And, yes, Buddha with diving mask would be extremely impressive.

As for next MMPs: FCM is up next. BioTigs was originally going to go this week, but bowed out due to icky headache, so she could go the 18th if she wanted to or you could, rigsy … (I’ve penciled you both in in my sig until someone actually volunteers).

And, by the way, the brownie sentence had a very FCMesque tone to it.

Hey, MBG I finally figured out spellcheck in Firefox on a Mac: it’s control + click that gets you the menu. There are some very interesting choices on everyone’s nicks.

There’s drama tonight chez GT. Well, actually chez Local Best Friend’s cousin’s. Cuz got married in the Caribbean over the weekend and there was apparently a major major major argument at the rehearsal dinner. Someone on the groom’s side had it out with someone on the bride’s side, we think (details are still sketchy; LBF arrived after the ruckus had subsided and hasn’t been able to gather the complete story). So, anyway, the local reception is Saturday and I hadn’t planned to go, only now I have to play the role of GT, Good-Will Ambassador, because Cuz’s mom is going to be the only person from the bride’s family who can attend and really needs an ally. This will be fun. What do good-will ambassadors wear?

Thanks FCM, for that lovely image of swampy and ACBG as superheroes. :stuck_out_tongue:

Where has Taters been this week?

Hope the not-throwing-up continues LiLi and that the water returns and stays.

I’m tired. I guess I should toddle off to bed. I planted lots of stuff and then took a walk (with ice cream!) and then cleaned up and then dealt with drama, so I guess I’m allowed to be tired.

Please tell me it’ll be Friday soon! (Although I’m currently dreading Saturday evening.)

GT

We have a WWII gas mask around here somewhere… would that help?
