Could’ve been the whiskey
Might’ve been the gin
Could’ve been the three or four six-packs,
I don’t know, but look at the mess I’m in
My head is like a football
I think I’m going to die
Tell me, me oh, me oh my
Wasn’t that a party!
Actually both of us were rather well behaved. Others not so much. I have a feeling there were quite a few hungover people in my hometown today. Somewhere’s upward to fifty people were there at one time or another. I absolutely refused the Jagermeister shots. Stuff is nasty! I did however take a couple sips of some pear moonshine. Sometimes that inner redneck must be set free. All in all a good time was had by all. Lots of good food too! I think I must have eaten close to a quart of some nummy homemade salsa, it was soooooo good! I do believe the reason for no hungoverness was the abundance of food to snack on all through the party. The last people left just after midnight (party started at six and people were in the pool and such) and we helped sis and bil with cleanup. I think we all got to bed by around oneish. Not too bad, I guess but definitely waaaaaaay past ye olde usual bedtime.
Rigs hope you’re feelin’ better. Grad school is sufferin’ enough with the sick on top of it!
Supper has been et and ACBG is at his place doin’ laundry and such. It is super hot and humid out. I’m considerin’ a nice refreshin’ dip in the pool. The water temp is around eighty and should feel good with the at present ninety six degrees Amurrkin outside at almost seven p.m.
It has been peaceful at the house today. My husband took my son paintballing, so it’s just myself and my daughter. I am ashamed to say that I have not done one productive thing today.
Well, I dyed my hair and took a shower. Does that count? Probably not, huh?
Earlier this week we went to a Fat Burger joint just northwest of us. My husband had heard good things about it, and I noted that I had seen the place mentioned in the Dope several times.
Mmmmm, it was alright I guess, but certainly not worth the thirty eight dollars and change we paid for our food. We all had some type of hamburger baskets. I substituted onion rings for fries. The rings were good, but they could’ve drained the oil a little more before dumping the rings in my basket. The food was certainly fresh, and I like the fact the food is prepared when you order it; but I gotta say the relish they put on the burgers is overpowering and I didn’t like it. We probably won’t go out of our way to eat there again. Frankly, we like our local Herfy’s better and it’s about ten bucks cheaper.
Crap! I’m out of diet coke. There’s no juice or tea to drink either. Guess I’ll have to drink water. Yes, I COULD go to the store, but I don’t feel like it. I’m sitting here in jammie pants. Additionally, I didn’t bother with styling my hair or putting on make-up. Sometimes it nice to give your face a break from all that crap.
Rigs, I hope you’re feeling better. It sucks being sick.
Alright, I guess I’ll go back to the mundanity that is my life.
Taters, I agree with you; in general I don’t much like those “upscale” burger places. Some friends of mine were dying to go to Red Robin - at $15 for a burger, fries and coke I won’t be going back. I can get a monte cristo at Cheddars for less than that!
I just finished preparing and consuming some fried green tomatoes from my very own tomato plant. They were very yummy. Now I’ve got to get back to stupid beading.
SCL, I didn’t perceive the burger joint to be “upscale”. It’s was all retro-looking, but that’s about it. Otherwise, the interior wasn’t any nicer or much different than your standard Micky D’s.
It could be that I’m letting my total dislike of the relish color my whole experience. I really, really, really didn’t like it and it overpowered the whole burger. On second thought, I don’t think I am. If the overall price had been ten to fifteen dollars less, I wouldn’t have given it a second thought.
I guess I should call my husband and find out what time he and my son are coming home. I need to get dinner going, but I don’t want to start it if they’re not here when it’s done.
I used to love to eat at Fatburger when I lived in Lalaland, home of the chain, and our local Fatburger made the most wonderful chargrilled burgers. But I ate at one recently and was seriously underwhelmed; like all things, I think it’s decreased in quality since its heyday. Alas.
Loose tendons, eh, Rosie? Well, maybe taking nice long walks will help it. Cause heaven only knows my tendons are plenty loose; at least my joint doesn’t just slide all over the place like it used back before it was bionicized. Interesting. I’ll have to ask the doctor about it at my next visit (which isn’t for a few more months). In the meantime, I guess I’ll just deal. Good luck going back to work – I hope it’s not too tiring! It took me a long time to build my stamina back up to something approaching normal, if I can ever be said to be normal in anything.
I just discovered the craziest new knitting yarn fiber I have ever heard of – buffalo! That’s right, American bison undercoat, spun into yarn! I have no idea how much it costs, but I see that it’s carried at a lovely D.C. yarn shop that has a branch on Capitol Hill right near Eastern Market Metro; I’ve been there before, and narrowly escaped with my credit card unsinged. <g> I shall have to go check it out one of these days because that is just fun and crazy!
It’s good to see you around here again, Taters! I hope things go well for you with the new office/rater. They’ve got nowhere to go but up, right?
Sorry you’re not feeling well, Rigs! For a sore throat? My favorite palliative remedy is Throat Coat herbal tea. It’s made by a company called Traditional Medicinals from slippery elm bark. Incredibly soothing to a sore throat, and carried in most drugstores these days.
And now back to the salt mines, I guess. As I’m not a Sopranos fan, I’ve got nothing I want to watch on teevee this evening, so I have nothing to prevent me going back to work. Drat my luck.
Hi Taters! Sorry to say that insufficient time does not excuse you from posting to the MMP. Glad to see you back.
Fried green tomatoes sound yum. Can you send me some, please, SCL? How’re the beads coming along? (How many more to go?)
So the birthday party was…merry? You sound awfully jolly, mr. swampington bear.
I went to get mulch this afternoon, then worked in the garden for a couple of hours, then went back to church to water (which took another hour or so). Now I’m vegging and contemplating the week.
I’m thinking it would be good to toddle off to bed, as I’m planning to get up early to water, make lunch and get some laundry sorted out.
I’m home, and the cat hornked on her pillow. It’s cool here too. I got the windows open, and a pizza baking in the oven. I’m off tomorrow, so it’s dog park day.
46 days left, gt. Not that I’m counting. Sorry the wedding was sucky, at least you didn’t risk death like at the last wedding I went to.
SCL, I am on Prilosec, just the asthma really gets it going. Lucretia tends to ding used floss out of the trash when I’m at work.
LiLI, yay for a hornk free day(I guess Lucretia took the bullet for you)!
SO, hot wind and oppressive pressure on the people? Sound like a session of Congress.
Welcome i2x, did you bring beer?
rigs, Jahdra, get better soon.
swampy, I got to try moonshine when I was younger. Interesting stuff.
Today I have, in no particular order, done the following:
Cooked breakfast.
Folded and hung up two loads of clothes.
Vacuumed the living room, halls, and my bedroom.
Cleaned out the fridge.
Done two dishwasher loads.
Grocery shopped, and put away the groceries. (Thankfully no separation and storage of meats.)
Mowed the front and back yards. And picked up all the poop, first. Mr Rebo has hurt his back somehow. I think (IANAD) he has some sort of pinched nerve/sciatica going on. I’m trying to get him to make an appointment, but - what is it with men and doctors, anyway?
Cooked and deboned and chunked a whole chicken for later in the week. (The pups were most grateful for a few bites of chicken!)
Cooked the most awesome smothered steak and mashed NOTs I have ever tasted - marsala wine and portobella mushies. YUM!
I think that’s all. It doesn’t sound like as much as it feels like…
And I watched The Next Food Network Star. Mr Rebo has gone to bed with a hydrocodone…
See y’all manana!
(I’ll respond to all things I’ve missed tomorrow…)
Luckily, there are none around my apartment complex, so all the screaming is distant. But if I drive up Maple toward downtown DG, holy CHRIST it’s loud. It kind of makes me feel better knowing that in about a month, between all the cicadas and me, I’m going to be the one standing tall. In theory, anyway.
Ah, crap. I kinda don’t drink, but I’ve got some Jones Cream Soda I’m happy to share. And let me tell you, it’s DAMN good.
