Right, so a package I ordered Saturday to be shipped Monday via overnight shipping got shipped out last night via UPS overnight shipping. It’s on-time to be here tomorrow, but it’s being sent to an address that I was at today, but won’t be tomorrow without pulling some major strings. So, given that it could arrive pretty much any time tomorrow, I was wondering if anyone knew if it was possible to contact UPS in the morning and maybe pick it up at the center before it goes out on the truck.
Does UPS allow such a thing to happen? If I can call their service center at 7AM (I just got the tracking number 5 minutes ago, which, unfortunately, is 40 minutes too late to be helpful with customer service), can they hold my package at the facility and allow me to pick it up there?
It’s going to be difficult to be there all day tomorrow to sign for it, and UPS isn’t delivering on Thursday. So yea. Anyone have experience with anything like this? I could wait and find out at 7AM, but I’d hate to fall asleep thinking I have to sit in the middle of nowhere for potentially hours on end tomorrow.
You can call the service center, and they will hold the package as a “will call”. Problem is, if the truck has already gone out, you have to wait for the end of the day–when the truck returns.
Up here in Great Falls, they don’t have a listed phone number for the service center, but if you call one of them UPS stores and explain it to them, they should be able to hook you up.
Tripler
I just went through all of this several times last week 'cause they won’t leave a package at my apartment building.
I’m on the Next Day Air Saver thing… but one thing; the 800 number opens at 7AM, but the local UPS Service Center isn’t open at all today. Is this where I’d need to go to pick it up, and is not being an open an issue?
I’m not sure if this will still apply, but you would need to pick up the package at the actual hub. The 800 number should be able to help you with its location.
