I was looking at the US Census Bureau site, but I couldn’t seem to find what I was looking for, which is population stats from the 2010 enumaration broken down in categories - say by County (or zip code, or census block as I guess there is a cross reference table for those somewhere), or by Age, or Gender, Education level etc., ideally with roll-up capability (e.g. so you can get the number of say 20-30 years old within a given county). I remember the form I got didn’t have too many questions on it, so the number of sub-categories will be limited, but I couldn’t find any such data on-line (I know it exists somewhere, as the News services out here were discussing the number of school children of given ages in various school districts from the 2010 census).
Can anyone point me to the right pages/tables/pdfs? Thanks
Date Release Schedule. The Census Bureau compiles so much data it takes time to digest and regurgitate it. Redistricting and apportionment were the top two initial priorities.
The data the news services were talking about was probably derived from the American Community Survey, which was developed by the Bureau of the Census to take the place of the long-form census form that many people found objectionable.
The ACS uses a rolling collection of data, so it’s not as timely as the official Census, but it’s a lot more comprehensive in what it studies.
