The only time you should see a backward or reverse flag is on the uniform of a military professional as an arm patch worn on their sleeve.

That’s kinda what ticks me off every time I see it. If someone is going to pretend to be a patriot, at least get the fucking signals right.
I always grind my teeth when I see the flag displayed incorrectly. It’s not that hard to get right fer crying out loud.
If you look closely at the image, the flag is strangely blurry, especially in the Star field. It looks like to me that he’s slapped it on the Velcro holder on his uniform wrong way out. I doubt it means anything specific.
And that is even worse! He’s the one who approved that picture, I want an AG who pays attention to details.

Obviously he did it looking in a mirror.
Basically, the flag patch in that configuration should go on the right sleeve (or the right side of a vehicle) so that the union (star canton) is on the leading edge as you move. Or in static display mode, in portrait orientation so that the union is to its own upper right (viewer’s upper left). So yeah, he’s in tacticool get-up, out of uniform, and got it wrong.
