US Midterm Election watch along thread

I just got back from a trip to western Colorado and saw exactly one Boebert sign, on the road from Durango to Farmington, NM. This surprised me because it’s quite a ways from Rifle but when I looked up CO-3 it takes up the western third of the state from top to bottom and has an arm that curls around Denver to take in Pueblo.

Dump of 2400 votes from Maricopa has Mayes’ lead up to 570. 1900 left to count (1550 Election Day votes plus 350 approved provisionals) and 3800 which still might be cured. Plus some outstanding from Apache County.

Mayes for the win. I really don’t think there is any way the recount will help, but hey, the voters wanted this.

Apologies if this has already been mentioned, but Dems took over the PA state House 102-100 for the first time since 2010.

That is good news.

Mayes picked up 81 with Apache County posting their last results, lead now at 651. All counties are finished except for Maricopa. Unclear how many ballot cures are still possible, but it would take a massively red bunch to flip the result.

Zeno must be running Maricopa elections. 1900 ready to tabulate yesterday,1200 tonight. Dumped 2070 tonight, Mayes’ lead increased to 850. I think she’s got it.

I am positive Mayes has it and I have no concerns about the recount. I will be very surprised if the numbers change more than 25 votes one way or the other.

Maricopa County finally is done. Mayes wins by 510 votes.

And now for the recounts. Le sigh.

For a 510 vote difference I’m okay with a recount. It’s the “We wuz robbed!” baloney I can’t stand.

If there is even a single vote difference between the two counts we are going to be hearing about stolen elections forever.

Yup. As long as they’ll believe the recount.

Or at least shut up about it.

Do we have a final House count yet?

Still waiting on 3ish races.

No, there are still four races outstanding.

  • CA-3 Kiley (R) is ahead by ~10K, but several tens of thousands of votes are uncounted
  • CA-13 Duarte (R) is ahead by ~850 with a few thousand uncounted
  • CO-3 Boebert (R) is ahead by ~550 votes with almost everything but a few provisionals counted
  • Alaska Peltola (D) is way ahead but didn’t cross 50% so it depends on how second choices break in that state’s ranked-choice voting system; next announcement will be Nov. 23

Final count is likely to be 222-213 if these hold

INteresting story about the Arizona state house:

And the Democrats are saying to themselves, “So we don’t re-run the elections and she never votes in the Assembly. We’re not seeing the downside here.”

Incumbent Republican Rep David Valadao was declared the winner in California’s 22nd District yesterday. He is one of two House Republicans who voted to impeach Trump and were re-elected this year.

Yup. Republican house majority is as narrow as possible: 31-29. Maybe she can bring a friend or two with her on her boycott.

Even so, that’s a big “fuck you” to the voters who just elected her to represent them.
