US Voting Help

I am looking for resources that contain info about candidates and incumbents campaign finances and other financial matters, voting records, supposed stance on issues, etc. I know of at least one, www.opensecrets.org, but I don’t know of much else. Any suggestions?

Well, the League of Women Voters provides statements on the positions of the candidates (when the candidates choose to respond). They have a page to look up your voting district at http://www.lwv.org/about/state.html , but it is spottily maintained, based on the resources of the local group. (Nearly all districts will have something printed by November 1, but the web pages are all hit or miss.

The League has agreed to work with AOL in providing information at the http://www.electionguide2002.com site.

You can also enter “your town voters guide” into Google and have a fair chance of finding something.

The liberals and conservatives each have various “watchdog” groups that rate the U.S. Congress and state legislatures. Most of them can be found at http://www.vis.org/visweb/html/ratings.htm a clearinghouse that lists the sites of most of those groups.

First, select the candidate you wish to vote for. You may select one and only one candidate.

Next, punch out the chad that is located next to their name. Be sure that you punch the chad all the way through, and that you punch only the chad of the candidate you wish to vote for.

Congratulations! You have voted!

Sorry, couldn’t resist.
