Useless info needed -- where is this scene from? ("It's so HARSH!")

I woke up this morning with a snippet of a scene from some movie or TV show in my head, and I just can’t place it. It’s been driving me bonkers all day. Please help!

A young woman is freaking out and crying because something has happened to deny her from participating in some event. The tone is very much like the footage after Nancy Kerrigan got whacked in the knee and is sitting on the floor crying, “WHY? WHY?” But that’s not it. The prominent line is something like, “It’s just so HARSH!” spoken by this girl as she cries (and blows her nose?), and people are around consoling her. I think she is standing. It’s in somewhat of a documentary style, but I’m pretty sure it was fictional. And I have a sense that the thing she is being denied is something fairly innocuous, like being left out of a competition, or not being able to go on a trip, or something. It’s an irreversible event, but no one has died or anything like that. I described it to Mr. S this morning, and it sounded familiar to him too, but he couldn’t place it either. I think it must be from something within the last 10 years or so.

It’s NOT:

Tonya Harding crying about her broken shoelace
Tracy Flick crying in Election
Jerry’s Bette-Midler-understudy girlfriend crying on Seinfeld
Miss Rhode Island after Jerry killed her doves on Seinfeld

GAH! It’s just beyond my memory’s reach! I had hoped that typing this out would trigger something, but so far nada. It’s gonna drive me nuts until I have it. Please save my sanity!

It’s when Rachel on Friends thought she was being stood up by her prom date back in High School.

Yep, that’s it. It’s from the home movies that Monica’s parents give her (hence your documentary thinking), and we see Ross getting ready to be her stand-in date, when her real date shows up at the last minute.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! That’s it. :smack:

What a relief.
