Just today, I posted a quotation from the OED.
The author? SHAKES
Also, RTFirely is Rufus T. Firefly, Goucho Marx’s character in Duck Soup. I love that movie. And it took me over a year to get it.

Oh, and I was reading the complete short stories of Mark Twain, and I yelled upstairs to liberty3701: “Have you seen my SamClem book?”
At that moment, I got it.
Ellis Dee I still shake my head over that one. It should have been obvious to me especially.
Watched This Island Earth a few years ago and one of the characters was Cal Meacham.
For awhile I thought TubaDiva was some weird play on “scuba diver”, until I realized it’s exactly what it says.
I’ve had tons of others over the years but I’m blanking at the moment.
Sue Dunhym is not “Sue Done Him”.
It’s also not her real name. It’s a…
Took me awhile to realize that Argent Towers and I were hanging out in the same place… (at least in theory!).
TubaDiva was (and strangely still is) TubaDiver in my head.
Or High Society…
Mange tout I got right away - it took me a while not to read Mange orge and wonder what an “orge” was.
Hmmm. Just realized that “orge” means “barley” in French. Maybe he just eats … beer?
Reading “The Hunting of the Snark” by Lewis Carroll, I was surprised when I saw Rilchiam in the introduction. (It’s an answer to the Shakespearian question “Under which king, Bezonian?” if the person didn’t remember if the king was named Richard or William.)
We really ought to have an “identify your literary allusion user name” thread…
Not a poster, but their pet. A conure named “Onan” who used to belong to Paul in Saudi.
“Why did he call his bird that? I mean, Onan isn’t exactly a famous biblical character. He’s known for defying God and spilling his seed on the ground…OHHHH!” :smack:
I remember a thread a looooooooong time ago where he explained when he got his nickname, but couldn’t figure out why everyone started calling him that. Others in the thread expressed confusion that “surely Boy George grown up = Man George” but he never returned to the thread to acknowledge this, which is when I realised he was pulling our leg and knew exactly what it meant.
I read the Lensmen series a few years ago and was pleasantly surprised to run across Qadgop the Mercotan.
Although I recall Cal saying at one point that it was just a coincidence.
Never mind, Cisco was right about this one.
???
!!!
This is what I was going to say - kinda. After learning of Der Trihs and ** Not Sir Blah** I’ve been looking for backwards hidden usernames.
I saw Norinew as When in Rome. Nevermind that it would actually be Wen I Ron. :smack:
:smack:
I thought it was German.
I did too :smack:
And while I’m at it, it was only a couple of weeks ago I found out that Inigo Montoya isn’t a completely random but cool user name. Well, it IS still cool, it’s just not completely random
