When I do an “Advanced Search” on my own username, to see the currently active threads where I have posted, as I’m keying in my name I see a popup of these names after the first three characters:
I can’t remember seeing over two or three of these names in threads I’ve visited, but this did make me curious how others’ lists might go.
Getting this list of mine accessible to a copy/paste for this post involved doing a “Select All” and “Copy” to a text file and then stripping away all the excess verbiage that came with the “Select All/Copy” move.
I’m kind of surprised to note that I appear to be the only Sarabellum. Guess there seems to been no need to add the 1976 part.

I just went for the shortest list. Fair and Fai really aren’t close enough to my name for me to care. My spousal unit posted maybe 2 or 3 times then decided he didn’t want to play here. I think I recall Fairy Princess Kitty, but none of the rest.

According to Ellis Peters (the author of the Brother Cadfael mysteries), she selected Cadfael as being such an obscure Welsh name that she could only find one example of it. The historical Saint Cad was born Cadfael, but was known as Cad.
Curiously, on this board there is a Saint Cad and, of course, BrotherCadfael.
There’s a snickerdoodle, and amusingly a snickerduudle, but the poster I remember being most often confused with was Kn*ckers. Not sure why; maybe it’s the “kers” ending. Or that there’s only two letters of difference between our names.
As mentioned in that thread ntucker extracted a large file of ALL users’ details and that file was bigger than my version of Excel would accept. So he trimmed off the non-posting users to give me a version I could examine.
It would seem to me that a useful endeavor by TPTB would be to purge all those never-posted usernames. Anybody know why that wouldn’t be advisable?
If I leave it at “fre,” I get a list that includes a boatload of people whose names start with “freak.” But when I go to “frec,” I only get:
Freca
frecklebeach
Frecklefoot
freckles
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a post by any of them. The one name that used to make me do a double-take was freekalette, but s/he doesn’t seem to be around any more.

Well, it won’t let me do a search on my new 2 character user name…you have to have at least 3 characters to search, so that will probably be a problem in the future if I ever want to search out my own threads. However, doing a 3 character search on my old user name I get:
I can’t say I recognize any of them, but then they probably don’t recognize me either. I don’t think any of us has ever been mistaken for another poster of similar name, however.
