usernames... vote most/least original

I have seen threads for BEST screename, WORST screename, longest, and so on. I don’t recall anyone voting for the following categories:

My nominees are:
Most Original
[li]ssskuggiii[/li][li]Zahphod Beeblebrox[/li][li]Bear Nenno[/li][li]Iampunha[/li][li]Mega the Roo[/li][li]Danielinthewolvesden[/li][li]Topaz Antares[/li][li]Drain Bead[/li][li]Carnivorousplant[/li][li]Tubadiva[/li]li “pigface”[/li][li]Pepperlandgirl[/li][li]SwimmingRiddles[/li][li]Mullinator[/li][li]lolagranola[/li][li]Trout mask replica[/li](There are many more, but these stuck out most IMHO)

LEAST Original(nothing personal!)
[li]Oncle Bière (Come on, there’s only one TRUE Uncle Beer)[/li][li]Troll (no explanation necessary)[/li][li]FlatUlance (need I say more?)[/li][li]Oat Willie (sounds like a very bad cereal with Willie Nelson photo on the box, “stays crunchy even in whiskey!”)[/li][li]Al Zheimers (as good as Arthur Itis, or Jaque Kinghoff)[/li](I will let the rest of you handle more in this category.)

I don’t think this is any more original than the people who yell “42” as the answer to every question. Perhaps you’ve never read Hitchihker’s Guide to the Galaxy? I can see how that name would strike you as original if you’ve never read it.

I would like to nominate Moe as clearly having the most boring, least original user name. Who the heck is that guy anyway?

I always thought Canthearya and Sue Dunnym (sp?) were the most original.

Has there ever been a Gene Pool on the board? Because that would really be unoriginal now that I’ve mentioned it.

Aside from being terribly foxy, Sue Duhnym has the most witty, creative username in my humble opinion.

Woohoo! I got on a list!

No, I have never read any of those books.

I have a few nominees for most original:
[list][li]CrankyAsAnOldMan - Makes me smile when I see it.[/li][li]Arnold Winkelried - You just don’t see enough user names based on 14th century Swiss war heroes.[/li][li]CKDextHavn - I can’t see this name without picturing a drunk Jimmy Stewart shouting “Oh, CK Dexter Haaa-ven!”[/li][li]MagicalSilverKey - Not bad yourself. Very lyrical.[/li][li]JimmyNipples - Can’t explain it, but I like it.[/li]Moe - Obviously a man of intelligence and wit (hey, I’m throwin’ you a bone here).

Well, Zaphod is the name of one of the major characters in the Hitchiker’s Guide series. I’m not saying it’s a bad name, it just comes from a book that is much less obscure than…say…the one that I pilfered my name from

Same here, Outrider. My name’s filched as well, but it isn’t every day someone catches it.

Consider yourself caught  (From the Silmarillion for non-Tolkien nerds)

Huh. Well, let’s see:

Most Original:

Has to be John Corrado. I bet no one other poster here ever though of having the User Name “John Corrado”.

Least Original:

Has to be John Corrado. I am John Junior, after all, which means my father came up with the idea well before I was even born. Heck, for that matter, my grandfather went by “John Corrado”; so that makes it over 100 years that this name has been in use, and I got it third-hand.
You make the choice.

I’m thinking “least original” would go to the people that used their real name, like lee (no offense, you’re just the only one I could think of at the moment)

enilorac gets a point for originality, even though it is kinda obvious.

I’ll join the ranks of the obvious literary references, though I’m considering changing it to something more original…should I?

Hey Maeglin, I know where you got yours from, being a Tolkien devotee myself. (But I promise not to snitch on ya!)

In real life my name is Lee, not lee, and that is not what I was called growing up either. There is a differnce. lee is easier to type and more reflective of my true personality. Personally, I think lee is more creative a name than Zaphod’s.

My fave online name was a guy named Stella! It is meant to be yelled as in a Street Car. Here, I like the name bibliophage.

Dang it! That’s what I get for opening new windows all at once and reading them in order. By the time I semi-snitched on Maeglin, he was already outed by nearly half an hour!

For all you big-shots out there…can you tell me what Maeglin means without looking it up?

And do check out http://www.salon.com for a nice article about the upcoming movie.

Namarie!

I’m almost ashamed of this, but it means “sharp glance”. I musta read that book 500 times.

I saw that article earlier today - what is that …thing… whose picture is featured on the front page? Is it an orc?

(Sorry if this hijacks the thread)

i think i will have to nominate mine for the unoriginal category.
