Thanks to this thread, I picked up a container of French’s this evening. No idea what I’ll do with it (besides shove some directly into my mouth-hole) but no regrets shall come of any usage.
I have some gravy, and mashed potatoes. They might unite into a holy trinity of non-nutritious calories soon.

When I was a kid, my mother would have french friend onions as a side dish with macaroni and cheese. As an adult, that’s the only time and way I eat them. (Which I do about once a month.)
