I have nothing but sympathy for both of these boys - the 11 year old from last week, and yesterday’s developmentally retarded 15 year old - and their families. I’m pitting neither of them, but the terrorists who would use them and kill them in the process.
FWIW, I don’t see the kid caught yesterday wearing a bomb-belt as much different from the child unknowingly toting the bomb-bag last week. This kid was, by all accounts, incapable of really understanding what he was doing.

I was just pointing out that the articles have differing positions on what the 11 yr old could have been (bomb vs. courier or bomb) supposedly based on information given by Israeli authorities. In the case of the 11yr old, was it even proven to be an actual device? I think that fact is being disputed. I don’t put it past it being bomb, or the Israelis propagandizing it. Even in the US, suspicious packages get blown up without them being determined to be a bomb.
I agree that it sucks using a simple minded 16yr old for suicide work. It is unclear, at least from that article, if his attended target was the checkpoint with Palestinians present which appears to be the opinion of one lone Israeli commander.

Not that I in anyway endorse suicide bombings, but would I be correct in assuming that there hasn’t actually been a child suicide bomber before? I had always assumed hat they chose men who would go willingly to do it. At what age would a muslim child be considered a man?
As crazy as it may sound, do they have their own “rules” for who can and cannot be a suicide bomber?
If the facts are as they seem to be at the moment, this would be an extremely new turn for the worse that the terrorists have taken.

I was looking for a thread on this guy here becasue the footage I saw on the news of him looking at the bomb after it had been detonated was truly chilling.
Not only does it appear the al-Aqsa Martyrs are willing to use children it would seem that they are activly pursuing it as policy now.
They kill kids all the time with their bombs what’s the difference(to them)? In their thinking they’re sending the kid to heaven aren’t they? He’ll be an honoured martyr on the other side.
This just shows that Israeli security is getting better at stopping bombers so the terrorists have changed tactics. What can Israel do about it? Not a lot other than being even more careful at checkpoints etc. coz the terrorists aren’t going to stop as the situation stands any way.

I don’t like it, but the fact is the Israel is in a low grade war. The Palestinian civil war is coming, and Israel is doing what it can to make sure no strong leaders emerge to take over the whole place. They don’t want to kill Palestinian children, but it does happen. I will weep for the babes accidentally when the Palestinians weep for the Israelis they deliberately target for death. They’ve offered to give everything they can give, and its not enough for the Palestinians.
Its a war going on and its starting now. And in war, “innocents” (I must be so cynical, because I have a hard time finding any. There are no innocents any more. Or am I just jaded by the eternal history of murder?) die whether you like them to or not. And if you let the enemy hide behind children, you’ve lost.
I think most people don’t understand what the Palestinians are really fighting for: each group is just aiming to be the next brutal tyranny once Arafat finally keels over and falls into the bowels of hell, including his own Fatah party. Once that happens, it will be a war. Israel knows this. The wall is meant not only to stop suicide bombers, its meant to keep out guerrillas trying to move through Israeli land.
Aldebaran, I have asked you this in another thread and I will ask you again. What do you hope to accomplish here? Do you understand that the tone of your posts is very condescending? Do you get that many, many people here are thirsty for other points of view, and would love to engage you with what you have to offer, if only you could manage to be polite about it?
See, a lot of us have huge problems with the way that the USA or Israel handle things, I know that I get heartsick just thinking about it. I don’t have any answers to the problem, but would love nothing better than to hear some suggestions. Will you, at last, offer anything constructive?

That is a dodge. It is reasonable to ask what it is that you are trying to accomplish here. You state that you wish to discuss matters and give/receive information. As I have said before, that is a worth goal. That being said, it is right and proper to discuss the way that you are doing this and to point out that you are not succeeding in imparting any information to anyone by virtue of the fact that you seem unable to talk to people in good faith or to show even the smallest courtesy.
More to the point, if you assert that my “questions” are simply opinions that I have about you, what possible harm is there in explaining to me why I am wrong? If, as you stated, your goal here is to share information than I am the target audience. By doing nothing but be dismissive, you are in effect cutting your nose off to spite your face.
