Using CTRL-F to find

Sorry if this has been brought up before, but if I do CTRL-F now it’s the same as clicking the magnifier at the top R of the screen.

On Chrome I can click the three dots to bring up the menu then click “Find” and it brings up the usual Chrome search box which is what I want.

How can I get CTRL-F to default to the latter?

I don’t know if it differs between interfaces but I use discourse classic on Chrome and ctrl-f brings up the Chrome search box.

In Firefox it brings up the browser find box.

I think I read in another thread somewhere that CRTL+F twice will bring up the browser find box on the second try. See if that works.

I think Ctrl-F only brings up the Discourse search when the entire thread is not loaded into the browser. In that case, the standard browser Ctrl-F is useless, because it will only search content that is already loaded into the page. If there is content that isn’t loaded yet, the standard browser search won’t find it, but the Discourse search will.

In other words, Ctrl-F going to Discourse search is a good thing.

Hitting it twice will bring up the regular search, but it’s worthless in Discourse because of the scrolling view.
