Game is fun. I got the new update but it seems like the old music is gone. Is there a way to use the old music? I liked it better
The first Vampire Survivors DLC is releasing December 15 for $1.99 US:
I hadn’t played it in a while but when this thread got bumped a few weeks ago I did jump in and play one game. It was really fun.
My problem is the games are too long. It would be a perfect “warm up” game for me when I sit down to the computer, at least when I’m playing games that I’m not completely absorbed into. As a smoker, I sit down at the computer quite frequently while gaming because I don’t smoke in that room, so I can get a lot of mileage out of warm up games.
Ever since I got this new computer a couple years ago my go-to warm up game has been Geometry Wars. I’m still not good, though way better than I used to be, but it’s like 4 minutes max if I set a personal best high score.
I would really enjoy a 5-minute version of vampire survivors. Even the double speed 15 minute runs are just too long for me to do every time I sit down after smoking every 70 minutes or so.
It is really fun; I just wish there was an optional super-short version of it.
The super short version is just being really bad at it.
sucks there’s a few last things i just cant do no matter how much I try tho …
i want the expansion tho lol
What things are you stuck on? I’m sure there’s plenty of people willing to offer advise or tricks for it.
Yeah, I would be curious to know what’s still on your to-do list. I’m an Eisenhower baby but still able to get 100% completion - eventually - with some tips on a couple of levels (mostly they boiled down to “try a bunch of different combos to find one that works”).
I used to read posters brag about how they were getting 10 million Vampire Bucks a run, and I assumed they had to be glitching or something. Sure, I knew about “eggs”, but c’mon…how much difference could it make. I’d spend a few thousand, adding 20-30 eggs to a character, and didn’t see much difference.
But when I finally buckled down and got Trousers a few hundred eggs, I started to see. And that little bit of improvement led to more Vampire Bucks won per game, and it started to snowball…slowly, then in a WHOOSH! He has over 5,000 eggs now and it is ridiculous…rather boring, actually; but once he had a couple thousand, he was pretty close to unstoppable even in The Bone Zone, the big money maker.
So: maybe eggs are the answer.
Just played another round (Raft is starting to piss me off) and it was just so satisfying. I went for both the two birds and the two wings + cake thing, the song of mana, water, and started with the bone guy. Was really weak to start but after maxing everything I wanted (except at the very end I was forced to choose axe instead of bible, but still solid) it was just brutal damage. This was on the first map.
I am not yet aware of any of the stuff added within the past several months. But right at this moment I think I want to try to do that same run on normal speed instead of double.
My Steam Deck has basically become a Vampire Survivors machine. It’s a very addictive game!
i need to get the scroll in the boneyard
Fighting and defeating the rolling ball of bones is one of the biggest challenges I had. I’d say it took me a dozen tries using characters with < 20 eggs.
I’ve been running into some bugs, or possibly just custom map rules, the past couple days.
Generally I go for the the union of the two birds and also the two wings. Ideally I would add the song for my three main weapons, and then the other three don’t really matter. I just play around with whatever.
Here’s the issue: The game stops recognizing when I still have abilities to level or even don’t have all six abilities anymore and should be getting brand new ones offered. My hypothesis is that if you fill up with six weapons before doing unions, the game may or may not offer you replacement weapons. Not consistently, and at the very end of the game I started getting those offers again. That’s what makes me think it was a bug.
In a different game, the union of the two birds is some turquoise bird. I had that at level 1 for seemingly ever. To the point that they started only offering me coins and chickens when I leveled. I was able to still level it via trophies from killing bosses, so I did get it up to around 5 I think.
I didn’t see anything on the wiki I found regarding this. Anyone else have union issues?
Also in a game there were practically no bosses or their trophies after maybe 12 to 15 minutes. I had never played that map before and that just might be a custom map rule.
EDIT: Also sometimes the game only offers me two choices on levelup when I still have three different abilities that need leveling.
i noticed that over the past couple of days … i had 4 weapons and the buffs all the way up and the boxes kept giving me lvls for the other weapons … then tonight it worked as expected…
Also I had a game tonight where I went 15 minutes with only 3 weapons and no other weapons
Played one more game after posting last night and ran into one more possible issue, similar to or the same as yours. I had weapons ready to be evolved but then I would take a trophy and it would just level one of my other weapons or abilities instead of evolving the maxed one.
Did it start offering you coins and chickens on levelup because it thought everything was maxed?
When that happened to me at least I could see that yes, that’s clearly a bug, not a weird game mechanic I’m unaware of. Offering me coins and chickens instead of upgrading the weapon that wasn’t maxed yet, I mean. Especially when trophies continued to upgrade that weapon. (The turquoise bird, I think it’s called vandalier.)
(I think one of the maps has almost no bosses or something, and the trophies have different rules to compensate. For all I know there may be more weird map rules like that which could explain some, but not all, of my issues.)
As a 250 hour player, my experience is that this has always been the case: that I could have a weapon for which the evolution criteria have been met, but if there is at least one other weapon or boost that is less-than-max, it’s “random” whether I’ll get my weapon evolved or a lesser thing leveled-up.
Unless I’m misunderstanding you.
Nope, you understand correctly, and that would explain that issue.
The premature coins and chickens seems like a clear bug, though.
I’m not certain this addresses your point, but I hope so:
What I’ve observed is that, before some time gate which I’d roughly approximate as the 7 minute mark (I could be off by a few minutes), you simply WILL NOT get an evolution from a chest - ever.
Now that I have Trouser with a couple thousand eggs, he’s flying through the Bone Zone whereby at minute 3 he’s fully fleshed-out. Yet I never get evolutions until several minutes later.
So, since evolutions aren’t apparently allowed that early, but you are otherwise “full”, coins is the only thing left.
I think it’s the second boss chest, which is at 10 minutes.
My understanding is that it’s 11 minutes. I can confirm from last night’s game that if you pick up a chest at 11:00 exactly, you can evolve an ability. Could be earlier but I always end up too scared to risk it.
Levelups never grant evolutions, you can only get those from trophies. And I am not otherwise full. Vandelier was level 1 or 2, tops. However, levelups did not offer me to upgrade vandelier, it only offered coins and chickens. Trophies were the only thing that would level up vandalier.
But not strictly vandalier. It’s happened to other abilities too, where they will be below eight but yet levelup won’t let me level them. I think one game I had three that weren’t maxed, and yet I started getting the coins and chickens on levelup. But then 10 minutes later I started being able to upgrade my abilities again. It was weird.
You had a fleshed-out Trouser in the Bone Zone?
