Wandering around on craigslist, I found a message wih a link to a Web site called Vanity Date, at http://www.vanitydate.com .
Apparently, it’s a dating-related Web site, like match.com, but only for pretty people.
This can’t be real … can it?

A description, from the site …
[quotte]Welcome to VantiyDate.com, the world’s most judgemental, shallow dating website. At Vanity Date we have a vision of creating the largest database of the world’s most good looking, rich and superficial people. Now, this doesn’t mean you have to be a supermodel, but you have to be a so called 7.0 and above to be allowed full access to the database or be talented and have an income over 200,000 dollars per year. Leave a bad taste in your mouth? If so, then we have accomplished our goal. Remember though, intelligence is encouraged. In fact, if we find out you have an iq below 100, you will be kicked off the site.

Cue that Carly Simon song …
Wow. That’s pretty sick.
I’ll admit, there are some pretty good looking people on that site, but I wouldnt want to know any of them personally.
It takes a certain caliber of person to join a site like that.
This should explain a thing or two.
Hmm…I just looked at some of the guys and they all look a little sleazy.
If this site is a joke, it’s a bizarre one. If you click on the “Cities” drop-down menu, you’ll find tres chic locales like New York City, San Francisco, Stockholm, and, uh, New Castle, Delaware. You can “rate” people on the site, but can only give them ratings between 7 and 10. (It’s the dating site where all the people are above average.)
As for “Mr. Vanity”'s claim that he is trying to make a TV show out of this website–pull the other one, Mr. V. You and about 500 people. I’m not completely convinced this isn’t a modeling scam.
Oh, and elmwood, you left out the best part about the “about vanitydate.com” page:
Anyone else think “dragongirl” on the front page might be a drag queen?
I did a whois and found Vanity Date is registered to Webaxe, whoever they are.
I like how you can’t rate anyone lower than a 7. So 7=0, 8=3.3, 9=6.6 and 10=, well, 10.
Wow, homosexuals and lesbians!
I’m all for this brilliant service. It’s about time someone stepped up and cut out the ugly of these dating services. Granted, I won’t be using it, nor have I ever used such a service, but it’s nice to know that this demographic is being capitalized on.
What!? no men in Providence between the age of 28 and 35 ?! crap !
Oh and to those of you who find it “shallow”, you’re not under any obligation to use it, or any any attention to it for that matter.
Wow, I found this thread right under another about vanitydate.

Weird.
Actually I meant to say “Oh and to those of you who find it “shallow”, you’re not under any obligation to use it, or pay any attention to it for that matter.”
