VEGAS FEST! Maybe?

Would anyone be interested in a VegasDopeFest?

Since summer is coming quick and Vegas is K-I-L-L-E-R in the summer, I was thinking October or November would the best time to go. It would also give us time to plan and save up money.

Vegas has:

Expensive hotel rooms
Expensive food
Expensive entertainment
High limits

BUT ALSO. . . .

Cheap/nice hotel rooms, especially with roommates
Cheap buffets
Cheap/free entertainment
Nickel machines

Seriously, you can do a lot of fun things in Vegas with very little money.

I would be willing to plan it and if anyone is interested, we could take it a bit further and conjoin it with a Southern Utah hiking/biking/camping thing.

Sounds like fun! I’ve never been to Vegas, but have been meaning to check it out sometime. A Dopefest would be the perfect opportunity.

Count me in! (Probably…)

Well, I’ll have to think about it.

YES!!! I’m freaking there, no matter what. Yes, yes, and yes again. Did I say yes yet?

Ah, Lost Wages. Fun in the desert! I would love to go to a Vegas fest, and since I’m now in Seattle (land of occasional cheap plane tickets), I might be able to swing it. Fall works for me as well. I can say I’m a hell yes like ZETTE, but I’m a hell maybe.

YAY!!!

I can’t wait to get into troubl. . . ., er I mean, have fun with you guys!

What about July? Isn’t it off season and cheaper then?
Mr. C and I might be heading out then as it is.

The only reason I’m thinking late fall is that it gives people time to save some money. I definately could not make a summer trip :frowning:

Also, isn’t it like 110 degrees in Las Vegas in July?

I vote late fall as well.

July in Vegas is a lava pit. 110 - 120 degrees. Fall will still be pretty warm but at least your shoes won’t melt to the asphalt.

I went on a Vegas internet group thing several years ago (not dope related, it was a different online community) and despite everyone saying that lots of stuff was cheap, I didn’t see any of it. I barely ate because I couldn’t afford the food, and I mostly sat in my hotel room while everyone else went out to dinners and shows and stuff that I also couldn’t afford. The last day I didn’t even get to sit in the hotel room because it was past checkout, so I sat in the lobby for about 5 hours by myself until it was time to go to the airport.

Basically, if you don’t have several hundred dollars to spend on eating and doing stuff for a couple of days, you won’t have any fun. At least that was my experience.

Well, a Vegas Dope Fest works for me as I live in Vegas.

If you all are really interested I could talk to the hotels and see if we could swing a group rate. Since I live out here it wouldn’t be much work. For those who are on a budget I could put up one or two people if a)they like cats and b) don’t mind sleeping on the floor.

OpalCat, there are alot of cheap things to do here. Shows can cost alot but there alot of free shows to see. As far as food goes, the buffets are amazingly cheap. If that is too exspensive there are always fast food joints.

Shoot, my earlier post didn’t seem to go through, so I’ll repeat:

Awwwwww, yeah! I’ve been waiting for a Vegas dopefest since I got down here. I’ve always wanted to meet some Dopers but could never make it to any of the other fests. Anyways, I’m very willing to let a couple people crash on my floor, and will gladly participate in any planning stuff if you want. Just let me know.

Yay!

Di dear, put me on the (pants included) interested list.

I’m sure I could do it in the fall. My birthday is on the first weekend of October…

Put down me & JustPlainBryan down as maybes.

YESSSSSSSSSSSS

I love Vegas. I can get into such trouble there.

But Mesquite is so much more …um…chic.

The breakfast buffet where we were was $8… which isn’t cheap for one person for breakfast IMO. I also had no way to get around to find anything else. It was August btw, and walking was not an option. heh.

I go to Vegas a couple of times each year so I’ve been able to scope the place out (although it changes drastically every time).

There are a lot of things to do in Vegas that are really cheap and even free. You can find buffets for $2.99, the Strip is pretty condensed so cab rides aren’t expensive. A lot of the huge casinos are close enough that you don’t even break a sweat before you’re in the door to the next one (with air conditioner). Some have enclosed walkways. There is cheap public transportation. The airport is close and has cheap or free shuttles to hotels.

You have to remember that gambling money is what supports Vegas. They draw you there with cheap entertainment, cheap food, and cheap women.

Yeah, there are the $100+ shows and $20 buffets, but Vegas can be as cheap or as expensive as you make it.
