VEGAS FEST! Maybe?

Well if you don’t mind a MAN in your room Diane & Zette, I would like to bunk with you. I’ll be bringing James with me. If that won’t work, then shove me in somewhere else, I’ll be happy. Oh ya, add James to the list. (jbm555 from LJ)

Yea yea!

Just to let y’all know, I got us (“us” as in JustPlainBryan, Edwardina, and myself) one of those deluxe rooms at the MGM.
We are soooo there.

Change of plans–I won’t be able to make it. Have another scheduled that week. Will try to get back in time, but no gurantee… :frowning:

Two things:

I spoke to Mercutio last night. He’s still without internet access, but I told him about the Vegas Fest, and he’s going to try and make it, so you can add him to the list.

Also. I think I might have screwed up a little bit. I wasn’t reading carefully enough (but this was before you put “PLEASE READ CAREFULLY” in all caps! :)), and I’d thought everyone else was staying at the MGM Grand. I really wanted to stay at New York New York this time, so I made my reservations there. Now I see it’s NYNY you’re going for the group rate for, and you need 10 rooms for the room rate. Unfortunately, I’ve already made my reservations, and I made them through Travelocity, so I won’t be able to add to the group rate number of rooms. I suppose I could cancel with travelocity if it looks like it’s going to make the difference between you getting 10 rooms or not, but the thing is, I’m not sure it would matter anyway, since I’m staying Saturday and Sunday nights, when I’m guessing everyone else is staying Friday/Saturday and going home Sunday. That was a long sentence. Deep breath. Okay. Anyway, let me know if it’s going to make a difference, Diane.

OK, we’re booked, including one room under the reservation code at the MGM.

Learned a couple interesting things.

First of all, George Carlin is playing the Grand whilst we’re staying there. If I read peoples’ posts correctly, he may be the closest thing the SDMB has to an official comedian (besides those who post here, of course). So if people are interested, tickets are available.

Sadly, Tom Jones doesn’t start up until the following week. Maybe he’s somewhere else in Vegas.

Second, if there are golfers coming who will be there Friday or Monday, I may, may be able to get a foursome on Shadow Creek.

What’s a Shadow Creek?

I saw him there at the MGM two weeks ago. (my second trip to Vegas this year… Dopefest will be the third, unless I take an impromptu one between now and then). I’ve been wanting to see him FOREVER. Don’t think I’d go again, but it was very funny, and well worth seeing. Tickets were $60.

hmmm…I’m thinking I better get on the ball here.
Should I be looking into finding a restaurant where we can all have dinner after the weddin’? Who’s coming? What do I do?
Does anyone even want to come to the wedding?

Damn, we’re never going to get any gifts this way.

Hey, Miss Creant, I made some dinner suggestions a couple pages back but no one ever said “I want Italian” or “I want Japanese” or any similar comment.

So, here we go. I’m soliciting suggestions for cuisine type from everyone going to the VegasFest. I think the wedding couple gets veto power. Everyone else, email me with 1) what you love, 2) what would be acceptable, 3) what you hate. Then, I’ll tally and let you know what came out in the lead. Sound good.

Okay, I can probably get golfers on at Stallion Mountain and probably some other places as well if anyone is interested.

The email address below will get right through. Let me know what sounds good to eat!

Mr. Cynical,
Shadow Creek is a golf course on the far north part of the city and was the one-time home of Steve Wynn (who was also the only ‘member’, all others were invitation only). For those that don’t know, Steve Wynn built the Golden Nugget (OK, refurbished the Golden Nugget), Mirage, Treasure Island, Belagio, and was a partner in Monte Carlo. He has since divested himself of those properties (as well as Shadow Creek), but doesn’t seem to be able to keep his hand out of it as he purchased the Desert Inn for his wife’s birthday and will, no doubt, have something spectacular when he is finished with it.

Additional fine dining suggestions:
Redwood Grill in the California,
The Steak House in Circus Circus
Olio in the MGM Grand
La Provencál in the Paris
Ruth’s Chris Steak House, 2 locations; one open until 03:00,
André’s (French) downtown,
El Sombrero off-downtown, for those who desire authentic Mexican (a friend once commented that the food was just like his mother cooked),
Too many trendy, neuvo type restaurants to mention, the major casinos are full of them (i’m not implying anything here, just don’t know how else to describe them).

How bout a place that doesn’t put a lot of adjectives in their food

for those who wish to attend said wedding and dinner, please email me @ misscreant1107@yahoo.com

so far, only about 8 people are coming

That’s it!
I’m coming… I will manage the details later. I’ll make a room reservation ASAP - and I want to see George Carlin. As for food, I will eat anything but sushi (I don’t trust fish served that far from the ocean.) MsC , I would love to be at your soiree!

eep

bristlesage, I’ve golfed Stallion Mountain before, and it’s a fantastic course (I did the second course, not the one with the repro holes). I keep getting conflicting answers on whether Shadow Creek is open that weekend (it’s re-seeding season), so I just might drop you an email. Thank you.

For restaurants, I note that Emeril has a fish place at the MGM and a steakhouse at the Venetian. I can vouch for the steak – it was amazing. So I’d throw those in as suggestions.

my budget says we go to Mickey D’s
