Since interest fizzled out in the October LasVegas Dope for the most part (and I ended up having to work that weekend anyway), I thought I’d put out feelers to see if there was interest in a February VegasDope. I’m currently thinking about the weekend of Feb. 6-9 as a possibility. I’d appreciate replies from anyone who might be interested.
psycat90 and I are going to try to make this one, I think.
Well, I’d like to go, but considering I’m going on the last weekend of February as it is, I’m afraid I can’t afford to go to Vegas twice in one month.
Maybe we can make it last weekend in February? I’d love to go, but the 9th is my son’s b-day weekend.
I’m open for any of those times.
Another time I was thinking of suggesting was the last weekend of February, and coincidentally, that seems to be the time that JavaMaven can go. Hmm, I think that would be Feb. 27-March 1 (there is a leap day in there).

I’ll be finishing up a job in Mesquite, and should be there quite a bit. If that’s the case it’s only an hour or so to run over to Vegas.
I’ll try to keep it open, just in case.

I discovered something really cool about the rooms in The Aladdin (a newly rebuilt hotel on the Strip): all rooms come with a computer and internet connection!! If they could provide a webcam, we could have our VegasDope room party broadcast for all the poor slobs who weren’t able to make it.
Hehheh, you know you’re a geek when you contemplate staying at a hotel just because of the internet access 
But the rooms look nice, too, and I may be able to get two nights at a fairly good rate (for the Strip).
Is this thing still in the works? Not much response so far.
I’m up for that goonhead, I don’t have anything planned at all, but I usually don’t know what’s going on next week let alone next year.

Thanks for replying, Demo and Sanscour. I started another thread with the date Feb. 27-29 chosen as the time for this. I’d still like it to come together miraculously, but perhaps the lack of a wedding or other major event is making people trepidacious about going.

I think we’ll get some from the East Coast. I’m hoping Insomnia4AM will make it, she’s from Connecticut.
I’m currently researching places to stay, and I’m leaning towards the Imperial Palace . The “hot corner” in Las Vegas is Las Vegas Blvd. and Flamingo, and the Imperial Palace is very close to this corner. Plus, I can get a pretty good discount on a room there through http://www.entertainment.com/hotels. Barbary Coast is another possibility.
I’d love to stay in the Aladdin, but that will cost a fortune.
I am going to try to make it, but my issues are with coming up with money for a plane ticket, and a place to stay. Sigh. Gotta love being broke somtimes…:rolleyes:
I certainly hope you can make it. If enough people express interest (like back in 2002), people could probably share hotel rooms.

Goonhead, I did some research today, looking for plane tickets and hotel rooms and stuff, and I gotta tell you. If I manage to come up with the money to go out there, I am going to have to starve, walk everywhere, and sit around in the dark for a couple of months afterward! 
Yeah, but it’ll be worth it to hang out with me!
