Started a catch-all thread to cover the entire season.
Will Gary (Henchman 21) join the OSI or Sphynx? Speaking of which, will Sphynx continue to exist as a separate entity now that Col. Gathers has taken over the OSI? (I’m hoping so).
Will I get my fantasy scene of Rusty calling JJ for help only to have JJ say he’s a little busy right now (and you see that he’s in Ventronic, fighting Godzilla)?
Will Dermott rightfully get his ass handed to him?
A quick question: During the season five premiere after the first or second commercial break Cartoon Network put up a bumper that said that the Venture Halloween special was supposed to take place in between this commercial break so to ‘replay it on your DVR now’ or something. I did just that (I hadn’t watched since last Halloween anyway) but it didn’t really seem to fit. Was this just a typical Adult Swim mindfuck-joke?
I think this one of the few times we see Dr. Venture being proactive, and like the time he powered a device using the souls of orphans… I think the OSI should be helping the Monarch.
Obviously that has to change. Either OSI needs to send some people over there to help him, or he needs to do some recruiting and get some guidance from the OSI.
And I still liked the scene with Dean and The Outrider.
“I told you I need to speak to your father.”
“And I told you to go fuck yourself.”
My damned DVR has somehow got the idea that I only want to save five episodes of The Venture Bros., so I don’t have it on hand. But IIRC, in that episode, Dean was in the haunted house with a creepy old guy, who told him about being one of a series of clones. And when they came back from the commercial, he was in the kitchen, talking with the college girl he liked, and he did mention having just found something out the night before, that he didn’t know how to process.
So that’s consistent with the scene having taken place the morning following the Halloween special. I don’t recall if in the special he had abandoned the Buddy Holly look for the lead-singer-from-Green-Day look, though. So that could be a continuity problem.
Well, if he comes to embrace the clone thing, it could lead to my desired end for tVB.
Everyone dies. Every last one of them.
Everything gets destroyed. Cocoon, Venture Compound, Spider Skull Island.
Then after the final credits, we go to a room deep under the ruins of the Venture Compound. A light comes on, a clone awakens. A physically perfect clone.
I originally thought they were going to push Dean out of that world altogether by the end–he’d go into hiding as a regular person away from costumes and adventuring and science. I read a theory that he is actually being groomed for Villainhood… after this episode, I’m now going with that theory.
He liked the idea of ruling the world too much.
We’re gotten…seven(?) shirt designs so far. The “In Technicolor!” bonus shirt, Palemon, HankCo, U.R.G.H., Destiny, Spanikopita!, and O.S.I.
So far, the Destiny one is the only one I won’t be wearing.
I regretted not doing the full shirt club the first time around, but it was a summer when I was at my poorest and was literally having to alternate between paying one student loan one month, a different one the next, then maybe part of my CC bill the third, etc…
