Uh, I’m still kinda new 'round these parts, but I thought it might be nice to write up a little um, thing, about what we, uh, did. Yeah. It was cool to meet some Dopes. Dopers.
There was dinner and concert and lunch and kite-flying, but I couldn’t actually go to any of that, so I’ll just tell you about the final dinner and others can chime in ad libitum.
I thought we were meeting at 5:00 on Saturday at Halvorson’s, but I was out all day hiking and didn’t get back to town until 5:15. Rush rush rush, I show up at the restaurant at 5:40 and realize the only person whose real name I know is Eonwe, but I think he made the reservation, so it’s okay.
Yersinia: I’m here to meet a group of people. I think the reservation might be under ********.
Waitress: [puzzled]
Yersinia: Uh, it’s a group of about eight.
Waitress: Adams?
Yersinia: [lightbulb!] Yeah, probably Adams.
Waitress: The reservation’s for 6:00.
Yersinia: Okay, I’ll come back.
So I go to Borders, pester the clerks for a bathroom token  then browse for a while.
Yersinia: Hi, I’m here to meet the Adams party.
Different Waitress: [puzzled]
Yersinia: Uh, it’s a group of about eight.
Different Waitress: Is that them? [points]
Yersinia: Actually, I’ve never met any of them before so I don’t know what they look like.
But I walked over and andygirl said, “Are you a Doper?” so I joined the party. We played a 15/16 game with the tables, or maybe it was tangrams, but eventually room was made for all. We mostly drank beer and ate cheeseburgers, but other libations and comestibles were enjoyed. Conversation was light and witty, moving on to more serious topics only with the removal of the tablecloth and the arrival of the port. The merits of Moxie soda were debated. Wonko and Little Nemo, I hope you remembered to stop at Hannaford on your ways out of town! Snapshooters tooks snapshots of each other snapshotting.
I met Robot Arm, Wonko the Sane, Little Nemo, Eonwe, andygirl, and two friends of hers whose names I have rudely forgotten.
After dinner, Eonwe and I led a tour down Church Street. We pestered Swiddles at her place of employment until she agreed to meet us after work at Vermont Pub and Brewery. The intervening hour was spent huddled in the frosty air in front of Ben and Jerry’s Scoop Shop, eating our frozen confections and talking about good pranks. B & J’s needs more seats inside! Everybody was very nice and let me tell the joke about the duck who wants some grapes, because Robot Arm hadn’t heard it yet. I love telling that joke.
At 9:00 we went to Pub and Brewery to meet Swiddles. We drank some more beer, ate some more fried food, took more recursive pictures. Conversation was alternately sprightly and thoughtful. As the earth continued its majestic diurnal barbecue roll, we drifted apart to our sundry homes.
