Vermont

Yep, I’m in Montpelier.

Home is the Rochester, NY area. And I’ll be driving out that way on the 14th. Sounds like Monday will have to do, if it’s going to be done. What say people?

Ooo oo! I’d go for a Vermont Dopefest!

OK- Swiddles- do you have any ideas for a Burlington Dopefest? I havn’t been to Burlington since my teens. (Took the ferry over from NY last month) I heard that “The Hideaway” was defunct. That place (odd as it was) would have been perfect- at least as I remember it (from a longish bit of time ago) Can you give us some guidance O Great and Powerful Swiddles of VT?

I don’t know how old you all are, but there is some good music in the bars in downtown Burlington… but if anyone’s under 21 that’d be a no go. Also, the VT Expos, our own farm league team is playing that evening as well.

oh, BTW, this is Monday the 13th we’re talking about here.

Otherwise either I or Little Nemo won’t be able to make it. If I missed it, I guess it wouldn’t be the end of the world… after all, there’s always room for…

Vermont Dopefest, Mach II

not Vermont, but started out in Nova Scotia, hows that?

So far we have a Vermont Dopefest in which three out of the four potential attendees will be from New York. We need some natives or we might as well just move it to Poughkeepsie.

Jabe, Yersinia Pestis, SwimmingRiddles, Weird_AL_Einstein, and Gravity: check in and be counted. Dopers from New York, Quebec, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and other places, join in.

And if this Monday isn’t looking good, how about Saturday September 28th? I’ll be back in town for the weekend for a family event on the following Sunday.

Sept 28 is good for me… I can mark my calendar now. Also, that is a GREAT time for hiking and other various outdoor autumn-ish kinds of things. As Nemo says, other VTers, what’s your pleasure?

My only problem with Satuday, September 28th is that it doesn’t roll around until 2002 and I don’t know my schedule that far in advance. If we’re really talking about Saturday the 29th, then that day works for me.

Hey, I’ll just be back at school then. Works for me.

Well, as long as I know a week in advance I can likely get the time off from work, at least in September. Other circumstances might keep me from going though, but that’s not really predictable.

I’m up for saturday the 29th. Oh, and I’n not 21. I’m 31. I’m old. Mebbie I can get Special_Kay to show. I’ll have to ask the hinter-poster IRL tomorrow.

Will we be able to meet Quietgirl?

Not me, unfortunately.

No car, don’t drive anyway, hate relying on others to drive, don’t drink and hate groups of people.

Yep, I’m fun all around.

That’s a shame Gravity, the more the merrier.

Anyways, so Sept. the 29th sounds good to folks? I’d be willing to try to actually organize/plan something for then. I’m thinking maybe a hike up Mt Mansfield could be involved?

Any suggestions? Feel free to post or e-mail me or whatever.

Bibliophage, I missed your e-mail. Would you mind sending it again? Sorry, I don’t get over to MPSIMS too often anymore. Too busy fighting the gun banners in Great Debates.

Like Gravity I’m not really into drinking. So a hike sounds like fun to me.

Sorry about the date mix-up. My calendar’s been running slow lately.

Sounds like September is looking better than August. As for hiking in the mountains … I’ll get back to you on that one. Not being a drinker, I have no problem not meeting in a bar, but can’t we do something a little less physical and more cerebral like a coffeehouse? I wouldn’t want the impression I give everyone to be “nice guy, but he sure does gasp a lot.”

Um, I live at sea level and have breathing issues. Can we do something smarmy and intellectual like go to a coffeehouse? Sober dopefests can be spiffy!

Most likely no, Wonko. More’s the pity- she’s only been able to meet a few dopers and would like to see more.

Maybe andygirl and I can establish a base camp. While the rest of you reenact Into Thin Air we’ll be discussing Proust in Stowe over cappuncino and scones.
