Veronica Mars 10/24

Poor Logan.

Poor Keith (with his former “Just Shoot Me” costar).
So I’m confused. They know that the Asian man in the ATM photo is the rapist? Like put out an APB, we got ourselves the rapist? If so, er, why didn’t they pay some attention to that? If not, how are the frats in the clear?

Someone help!

I’m confused too. Would a rapist take the victim with him to a convenience store to buy condoms?

I don’t think they’ve found the right guy yet.

He’s a date rapist. Some date rapists don’t think of themselves as rapists.

Or he could have just thought she was drunk and he was going to score with a hottie, and the actual rapist happened upon her later.

Yes I know that’s reaching, but it’s not reaching any farther than Logan’s sprung-full-grown-as-Athena-from-the-brow-of-Zeus brother, or that a journalist would know about the half-brother and happen to tap his phone just in time to catch Logan’s call and somehow stop the real Charlie from getting and responding to it.

I’m glad VM finally called Parker on some of her bullshit. It makes no difference what VM thought of her sexual proclivities; it’s unreasonable for Parkre to believe that VM did anything wrong by not intervening in what VM had no way of knowing wasn’t completely consensual.

Now I’m looking forward to the radical feminists being taken down several pegs. I hated that kind of “feminist” when I was in college and I don’t like them any better now. There’s plenty of shit that goes down on a college campus that women should be legitimately concerned about. They don’t need to be manufacturing outrage at the Greek system, especially when they’ve been exonerated.

I think they just wanted Logan to be all conflicted and tortured again.
I hope the rapist isn’t Dick and that he’s a red herring - I like that he’s a jerk - the kind of guy you’d never like, but he isn’t bad enough to inspire hate. He’s ‘meh’.
There are few gray characters and I want them to keep the ones they have.

During the scene with Logan and fake-brother in the water, I was so sure that Logan had figured out the guy was a fake and was screwing with him, feeding him false outrageous stories. I miss slightly-evil Logan.

I’m 50/50 on this one. Either they’ve found the guy, or what we’re seeing is another customer waiting in line for the ATM; the real rapist might be out of the shot. (Or some weird third option like what Otto proposed.)

Anyone else catch Veronica calling Charleston, “Token”? I thought that was a hoot.

I think this mystery is supposed to last 9 episodes. I’d be surprised if they ID’ed the rapist in episode four and spent the next five twiddling their thumbs.

It seems to be VM’s writers’ thing to throw a few red herrings at the viewers, so no, the guy in the photo isn’t the rapist - and when all is said and done it will come back to haunt the frat boys - perhaps there was a plebe that never pledged fully and to retaliate, he’s framing the frat boys.
I was really hoping Harmony’s husband turned out to be a cheater - I was hoping this would have been a good opportunity capitalize on the chemistry the two actors had in “Just Shoot Me” (the writers probably said “no. that’s just what they’d be expecting us to do…”)

I agree with whoever said the guy in the photo was just waiting to use the ATM - didn’t AngryFeministCaricature say Claire was walking down the street alone when she saw her?

I just liked it how Logan from the Gilmore Girls was screwing with Logan from VM, by not being Charlie.

However, I think they could have come to some more logical conclusion on how a reporter figure out who Charlie was before Logan figured who Charlie was. I liked the plot, I just didn’t buy the reasoning behind it.

I don’t at all get how the VF reporter would have known to tap Charlie Stone’s phone. Veronica said the reporter knew Logan was Charlie’s half-brother and cooked up the impersonation scheme because he had tapped Charlie’s phone. But why would he have tapped some random schoolteacher’s phone in the first place?

I think what they were trying to get across is that Faux-gan was tracking Aaron’s finances and discovered the “Logan’s Kidz” business the same way VM did. He figured out who Charlie was and then tapped his phone.

But it was so stupid I could be wrong.

no, that seems logical to me. VM is not the only slueth in the world

That begs another question for me: Is Logan’s accountant honest or not? I wasn’t sure by the end of the episode. I don’t know why he’d call attention to the rapid depletion of Logan’s trust fund if he weren’t honest.

But I also don’t know why there would be a rapid depletion, if the ten grand a month is a planned monthly expense.

The accountant is apparently honest. Keith’s accountant’s examination of the books bears that out, although how Keith’s accountant missed that "Aaron’s Kids was out of business but “Aaron’s Kidz” was still sucking up 10K a month is [del]another bad plot point[/del] a little strange. The rapid depletion is coming from Logan’s profligate spending.

Sorry I’m late. Didn’t get to watch the ep until last night (thanks, rainout).

All of the background points, on both the rape storyline and Logan’s fake brother, are confusing, or stupid, or both. The writing staff needs to take a few deep breaths and start working things out in their heads again. Otherwise, this is going to start looking like a “fear of failure,” purposely sabotaging the show because they think it will be cancelled anyway sort of situation. Clean it up, folks.

I too liked the “Token” reference. Funny.

Logan’s acceptance of the faux-Charlie seemed a little too trusting for him. He’s not the kind of kid who would take someone in that easily. Too much character inconsistency, especially for one as well-established in his “wall building” as Logan. And the whole “the reporter was tapping the brother’s phone” was too over the top, too much special pleading. Not a well thought out plotline.

I know I’ve harped on this before, but having an episode where around half of the in-the-opening-credits actors don’t show up at all is getting pretty old. Hey, “The CW,” either you let the show have an actual cast, or you don’t. Stop nickel and diming us.

End transmission.

Even Wallace was barely in this episode. We saw more of Parker than we did of Wallace.

Also, speaking of the main cast, is it my imagination or did Francis Capra put on a lot of weight over the summer? I remember he used to have a neck.

Also, speaking of Parker, with that new wig she looks a lot like Rachel McAdams, IMHO.

Was Wallace even in this episode? I don’t remember seeing him. At least they make excuses for Mac’s absence, they don’t even bother to mention poor Wallace.

It was Wallace who came up to Veronica in the library and showed her the headline (and graphic) about the fraternity connection with the rapes.

Not your imagination. Everyone was saying that about Capra in last week’s thread. My man was hittin’ the table pretty hard this summer. (I should talk…)

You know, it may be because of the wigs, but one of the problems I’m having with the whole rapes storyline–apart from I don’t like using rape for entertainment purposes–is that I can’t seem to keep the victims straight. The girl in the ATM photo capture was not Parker, but she may as well have been, for how much they look alike. (I know that shot was supposed to be of the victim before being shaved; just more muddling of the picture). At least the two identified victims from last year’s ep were noticeably different in appearance. Without some actual individual, fleshed-out characters, the whole thing seems very vague and not entirely urgent. (Parker, in my opinion, has not been fleshed out as a character; she’s just been screechy, with little more to offer, since the incident.) And the other characters on both sides of the conflict–both shithead frat boys and feminazis–have been basically stick figures. This marks a surprising lack of depth for this show, given past performance. I’m getting worried.
