Veronica Mars is back today -May 1st

I was a little disappointed in this episode. Everything was wrapped up by the 47 minute mark, which is about when the restaurateur had his confrontation with the vandal.

I thought, "a quarter of the show left…something horrible’s going to happen to the restaurateur or Babylon Gardens now. Or else Keith will endure some fallout over the deputy firings or fake ID crackdown. " But then…nothing happened. Instead we got 90210 soap opera, ending with a chemistry-free hookup between Veronica and Piz.

Fun fact (maybe), though: I think the evil (or at least negligent) barkeep in this episode was played by the same actor, Steven M. Porter, who played the evil (or at least vindictive) barkeep in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer episode, “Beer Bad.”

I can’t verify it yet because I can’t find the guest cast list for this episode, but here’s a shot of Porter, who was definitely the bad Buffy barkeep, if not also Mars’s malicious mixologist. Am I right?

I think that was Jack McGee.

I really hate nice-guy Logan, and all of the nice-but-strained banter between him and Veronica. Shouldn’t Veronica still be pissed because he slept with one of her archenemies?

Loved the scene with the paintball gun and the Pulp Fiction dialog.

I enjoyed this episode quite a bit. And much as I enjoy big arcs, in theory, I found the “who killed the dean” one to be basically tedious and MacGuffinish.

I thought they handled the arabs-in-America business VERY well. It wasn’t preachy, no side came off as saints… The interplay between Keith and Veronica about the fake IDs was excellent as well.
Mac is so adorable!

I liked this episode overall, but one thing really bothered me. Do they really think that 19-year-olds are so helpless that a few drinks will make them walk in front of a car? The whole underage-drinking thing was way overdone. I mean, really, if the kid had been 21, would he not have gotten just as drunk? The difference between, say, 10 and 12 years old is huge, but between 19 and 21, not so huge.

I would love it if VM became an FBI agent, that would be wonderful. They can’t dump all her friends, though, right? I like her friends.

Oh yeah, this has been bugging me since last night:

Logan shouldn’t have corrected Dick. Dick’s use of “whoever” was correct.

Nah, I never expect anything reasonable from the American television viewing public. But those programming the network shouldn’t be so eager to insult us.

This episode was kinda ‘meh.’ The MOTW, while timely and pertinent, didn’t ever feel like there was any real menace involved. A little spray paint, some paintball shots–not much life or death there. Though I must say, that dude who got hauled off by the INS at the end of the story probably will be a hardcore terrorist soon, if he wasn’t already.

I guess the story arc for these last few episodes (of the season, hopefully) will be the romantic mixing. I guess that’s OK, given that the recent mystery arcs haven’t exactly set the fans on fire.

Not much else to say. Just glad to see Our Girl again.

Ehh, I think that Logan just wanted to say something so that he could think he was smarter than Dick.
