Veronica Mars renewed! How about your favorite new show?

I’m still worried about the fates of *Arrested Development * and the American Office.

NoClueBoy, it’s looking good for “Numb3rs,” though Sabrina Lloyd is apparently not returning to the show.

Those are my only favorite shows on TV too. I think they should give The Office more of a chance. How many episodes did their air? Not to mention the horrible time slot. I hope they don’t screw up chances for The Office like they did for Freaks & Geeks.

Yeah, I came in here to say “My favorite new show got pre-empted last week so ABC could devote an hour to Paula Abdul sleeping with an American Idol contestant.”

ABC, I think you would enjoy greater long-term success if you developed some shows of your own, instead of riding-the-coattails/ripping-to-shreds someone else’s.

You know, if I like a show, I should just get started on one of those campaigns before the cancellation rumors begin. It’d get a head start, an it probably wouldn’t be a wasted effort, with my track record.

(not that I think those things ever really work)

Well NBC only ordered a six-episode season as a mid-season replacement to test its popularity. I loved it, even as a big fan of the British version, but I can see how it could be too subtle (and too lifelike and depressing) for the masses. I definitely preferred Ricky Gervais’ boss to Steve Carrell’s, but I actually liked Jim and Pam and their quiet, sad relationship more than Tim and Dawn.

One problem with the U.S. version of The Office was that the first episode was craptacualr. Always a bad idea.

Did you see any more? It actually got a LOT better once it stopped modifying the storylines from the British series.

Yes, I agree that the other episodes were much better (I saw all but one). The UK episode they based the U.S. pilot on also was crappy. Both shows got better with ep 2 and much better after that, but the first shouldn’t be your worst episode or you may not get any more viewers.

Well, I read a CNN.com article today that says The Office has been renewed too, at least for now. I don’t expect NBC to support it the way Fox will no doubt push the renewed Arrested Development, but a few more Office episodes (if that’s all we can get out of them) are better than none.

Where can you find out if shows are being renewed?

Here’s the article I read, about the fall network schedules. All the networks should be officially unveiling their schedules next week.
