Very Mundane...We're having a baby on Thursday...

I know I haven’t posted in ages (I have been lurking though), mostly because life has been hectic, what with work and being pregnant and all, but for anyone who remembers me…

Irishbaby is scheduled to arrrive by c-section on Thursday 09/07/09, some time in the morning our time (I think that means late night Wed/early Thursday for the USA).

I’m fine, baby is fine, but it (we don’t know the gender) measured at 7lbs 2oz at my 37week scan, and shows no inclination to engage in my pelvis. My Dr basically has no confidence that a normal delivery would be possible-I’m very short, with a small and weirdly shaped pelvis, and irishbaby is decidedly average sized rather than petite- so a c-section is safest for everyone.

I now withdraw to allow the SDMB to run as usual…place your bets on birthweght and gender, send us good thoughts, request photos in due course to Squee! over…whatever!

Congratulations! I bet there were times during the pregnancy that you thought this would never get here.

Congratulations! I remember a very early thread where you were worried something was going wrong. Glad to hear healthy baby is close to arrival. Keeping fingers crossed for a very simple delivery.

And…having babies is definitely NOT mundane.

::Starts line to wait to see pictures::

When you popped into my thread it made me think about the fact that I hadn’t seen you posting for a while, and it made me wonder about how your pregnancy doing (didn’t you have a scare early on?). I wanted to ask, but didn’t want to pry. So glad that things have gone well and that you are about to meet your little one.

Good luck with the c-section and take it as easy as you can while recovering!

Scare early on, then hyperemesis until 16 weeks. I needed 48 hours of IV fluids in hospital at one point because I was ketotic and dehydrated, but since 17 weeks all has been well and I’ve felt great. Irishbaby has always been perfectly healthy, happy and active throughout.

My last day of work was last Friday and I worked night shifts and 24 hour on-calls up until 35 weeks, which, while not a lot of fun, wasn’t as awful as I had feared. Working even when I felt dreadful was what preserved my sanity…even if I did have to stop and puke on the way to a cardiac arrest!

Now I’m doing all the last minute cleaning/cooking/nesting things and trying to keep busy until Thursday. I don’t do well with free time.

Neeps I really do hope everything goes well for you- you know Dope Good Thoughts ™ can do a lot!

Babies are not mundane. Silly irishgirl.

And definitely not pointless. Best wishes / happy thoughts etc to you all.

Congratulations!! I remember your earlier problems and concerns and am thrilled that all has gone acceptably well.

I remember too. I thought about PM’ing you to ask how things were going but I figured you must have had good reasons for not being around. Glad to hear things are proceeding nicely!

Of all the “morning” sickness stories I have heard, that one is new to me! Congrats. I’m glad everything has worked out and, yes, I would like to squee over pictures soon.

Hooray! I third (I think) the request for pix of adorable little irishbaby as soon as you can pull yourself away from playing with the little fingers and toes and breathing in that wonderful new-baby smell from the top of its head.

As of this coming Thursday, I don’t see that being a major problem for you. Ever again.

Not at all mundane! Congrats. Mine is due on Friday, so I know exactly where you are coming from.

Yay!

:: taps foot; waits impatiently for pics::

Glad all is well – I’ll hang out over here with the rest of the well-wishers who are waiting for pix.

(And if you haven’t picked names yet, how about Cecil – or Cecile [which I actually think is a very pretty name] for a girl?)

Good to hear all’s well, and I too am waiting for piccies!

Congrats irishgirl!

If (s)he is born on 9/7 I’m sure this will be a clever baby!

(I’m not sure why sharing a birthday inspired me to sign up rather than lurk!~)

BOOORING!!!
:stuck_out_tongue:

(congrats! ;))

May I suggest 9/10? That is my daughters birthday and so far, she’s been a stunning success.

The very best of luck to you. And pics or it didn’t happen!

I thinks she means July 9th.

Congratulations! Please post pics ASAP.

Good luck, irishgirl. I’m glad you are aware of the critical MPSIMS unwritten/carved in stone rule for baby and kitty threads.
