Viagra Questions

Would most doctors prescribe Viagra by request for the purpose of “enhancing” the experience, as opposed to needing it?

If one were to use Viagra for this purpose, could he become “addicted”, meaning that the unenhanced experience would no longer be as enjoyable as in the past?

Finally, for this purpose, is Viagra preferable to the other alternatives such as Levitra?

Thanks.

Skating a little close to medical advice in some of these questions. However, I’m inclined to leave this open - but move it to General Questions.

Well, lets avoid the risk of giving medical advice by having me (someone with no credentials in this area) posit some quasi educated opinions:

1.) I have friends who have been offered prescriptions for viagra/levitra for sexual disfunctions that amounted to “I’m under a lot of stress.” So their doctors didn’t seem especially reluctant to prescribe for trivial reasons.
2.) My understanding is that all of these drugs work be enhancing blood flow to the penis. This results in a (stronger and easier) erection, not a neurologically different sexual experience. Thus I don’t think addiction, as normally understood, applies. They all do mess with your blood vessels and too frequent use could result in serious problems, but I think that’s a “no more than once a day” issue rather than a “chronic use will destroy your penis” concern.
3.) I have absolutely no idea.

I know a couple of guys that asked their Dr. for Viagra and were turned down because they didn’t “need” it. They both filled out an internet form and got it easily.
I’ve tried Viagra and Levitra, Levitra was much better for me.
At the time I did really need it and my insurance paid for it. My condition has improved due to a change in heart medication and no longer need anything.

Have tried all three in the past. They gave me massive, throbbing . . .

…headaches. Seriously. I quit using them.

All of them? Oh dear…I was hoping a friend could change to another one. it does complicate the whole sex/headache thing.

First of all, how would your doctor know whether you truly “need” it . . . unless you’re having sex with your doctor.

Two acquaintances and I have all tried Viagra, and we all agree that it made us feel flushed, with a slight headache . . . and without the desired effect.

Cialis works a little better.

I asked this question of my doc at my last physical. He pulled his prescription pad out of his pocket and asked how many I wanted. I told him I was just curious. He said that whether a patient has ED or is just interested in trying the drugs out recreationally was none of his business. When I declined again, he dug out a sample pack.

I told my gf, and we tried it. I got a runny nose and a raging hard on. I had trouble addressing only one symptom at a time. We had fun, but unless I were experiencing ED, I wouldn’t take it again.

And if that aint TMI, I don’t know what is.

Thanks for the answers. Some of your experiences are scaring me. I’ll probably give the V a shot during “practice” before thinking of using it on the “opposition”.

A friend (no, REALLY!) had similar results. He used the words “hard as a rock.”

The headaches I got were of the “hangover” variety, accompanied by a general feeling of malaise. This was on a relatively low dosage. Not everyone has the same side effects, but there are recorded instances of coronary problems if combined with the wrong meds.

Yep. My gf suggested we use it to pound nails.

I just asked my doctor, he gave me a 2 pill sample and a prescription for 10 more if I liked them. I was also instructed to take a couple of ibuprofen about an hour after taking the little blue pill to cushion the morning after headache. The ibuprofen didn’t help much.
