Video editing software?

I’m not looking to be a movie-maker, but I wouldn’t mind having some kind of software to add titles and such to videos. Don’t need nuthin’ special. Any ideas???

If you’re using a windows box, you should have Windows Movie Maker. If not, sorry can’t help.

If you’re on a mac there’s iMovie.

Windows Movie Maker fits this specification exactly. It is nothing special.

If you’re willing to spend money, but not at the level of a professional level suite, consider Sony Vegas.

Not to be confused with Johnny Vegas.

I use a program called Editstudio - the company that originally made it - puremotion - was bought out by someone else, but it’s still available - it’s a layer-based non-linear timeline-oriented (as opposed to frame-oriented) editor - you can add as many effects/transition/video layers as you like, making it capable of quite powerful and versatile editing.

I’m using version 4.1, which I got free off a magazine cover - and it’s perfectly adequate for my requirements.

I second Vegas…it’s not that hard to figure out most of the basic stuff. I still can’t get the 3D effect to work right, but I don’t want to spend hours playing with it to figure it out.

I highly suggest staying away from Microsoft Movie maker. For whatever reason later versions of it render terribly. Lots of artifacts and just general crappy encoding. I can’t get anything to come out of it looking good…no matter what my original source, or what format I choose. I think they screwed something up in there someplace.
