Expecto Prostitonus!
You don’t have to make up a Latin word that sounds like prostitute. Prōstitūta is a Latin word.
Why hasn’t anyone created an awesome Superhero RPG that isn’t an MMO?
I wasn’t making up a Latin word that sounds like prostitute, I was making up a Potter spell that sounded like prostitute. REVIEW YOUR SOURCE MATERIAL
I had no idea there was a Pokemon type strategy RPG! How cool! Thanks for letting me know about it. ![]()
Strategy games can be really uneven; I like mine with a sense of humor. Some of them are so serious! I almost got through Final Fantasy Tactics, even though it was pretty grim. I tell myself I should go back to it, but some battles were so hard. :o
Freedom Force not good enough for you?
Also, one could argue that both inFamous and Prototype would qualify. And also the four Batman Arkham games. Actually, I think there are quite a few of those games.
There are a couple of old games I still play, that I’d love to see updated versions made.
First is Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom. It’s a city builder where you are given a succession of maps with goals to meet (e.g. a certain population, a certain trading profit, a certain fancy building to be built). Sometimes the map is a blank slate and sometimes you’re revisiting a map you built earlier but with new goals.
It seems like city builder games these days are designed to be more open ended rather than scenario based.
The second game is Majesty 2. It’s a fantasy kingdom simulator. What made this game different was that you couldn’t actually control your heroes. Instead, you used a bribery system of flags with rewards. So you might place an explorer flag down with 500 Gold reward, or you might place an attack flag on an enemy with 2,000 Gold reward. If the rewards aren’t high enough, the heroes won’t go for it.
At the point where I couldn’t proceed in Prototype without running down and murdering fleeing civilians with the tank I was driving, I abandoned the game and any idea I was playing a superhero.
The first two Batman games, though, are totally awesome.
Years back (late 90’s ) I remember reading about a game being developed called “Guardians: Agents of Justice.” It was going to be an X-com style tactical squad game with highly customizable super-powers and destructable, interactive environments. Basically a turn-based, isometric Freedom Force.
Someone needs to make that game with modern graphics, and then take all my money.
A good X-rated video game that isn’t just a Japanese light novel stuck onto a computer.
I’d love to see a modern game like Starflight or Ur-Quan Masters, only without the time limit. Travel the galaxy, explore planets and mine them for valuable resources, gather clues that advance the plot.
I’ve always wanted a Grand Theft Auto style game set in a “not too distant future” envisioned by 80s and early 90s dystopian action films like Blade Runner, Running Man, Mad Max, Terminator, Escape From New York, Robocop, Johnny Mnemonic, Freejack and so on. Not quite Matrix-levels of cyberpunk or Fury Road levels of scorched Earth. Sort of like how Fallout portrays a “not too distant future” as predicted by the 50s.
I’d also like to see a zombie apocalypse RTS game. There are lots of zombie FPS and other games, but none that I know where control the military and civilian forces trying to prevent the spread.
There are some out there for iPad/iPhone users, and possibly Android:
Monument Valley
Tengami
Lumo and Lumino City
If you want really good point and click adventures:
The Silent Age
Lost Echo
Giant open world adventures:
Radiation Island
What would make this different than the porn games you find online?
(Not hatin’ just asking).
They need to make a good FPS Star Wars game. Aka, what I thought Battlefront actually was
Freedom Force is as close as it gets but it’s 20 years old.
The Arkham games are good but I want to create my own heroes. I want City of Heroes but single player and modern graphics.
My god, sign me up for a new Starflight.
I wasn’t aware there were any non Japanese porn games. I’m going to have to check them out!
Somebody was working on a Star Wars mod for a very early version of Mount & Blade. Pity that they never finished.
I’ve been waiting for an updated Disney’s Stunt Island for over a decade.
