I can’t create art after eating your brownies!
Maybe. The concept was that the GOP is already running against Hillary this year. Some righty defaces her picture and she’s like, “you know I’m not in the race?” Maybe it did not come across that way?
No, it didn’t. Leave the defacing off, and you’ve got a decent one.
Your posters are not photographs. Your posters are collages with scary faces and scary captions. The captions are vitriolic. Take a photo of dead soldiers in Vietnam and add a caption that says: “LBJ/Nixon put a bullet through this man’s heart” and you’ve just made it vitriolic.
I want Democrats to win more seats in Congress next election. Please stop helping.
When one poster tells you your ranting, you have a disagreement. When two posters tell you that, you might wonder if they are right. When most posters and the mods tell you that you’re ranting, you’re ranting.
I guess that’s one way of looking at it, but I thought the eat-shit grin she already had was enough to convey the right amount of contempt in her statement. I envisioned her as saying the caption before she gets marked up, not after.
I think it is the specificity of my depiction of contemporary hypocrisy that is bothering some of you. Along with some technical design issues.
Well the works are referents to real things than are even scarier, being real. What you are describing is not what I am doing. The POTUS really did defend Nazis, and never did apologize that I recall. The GOP really is fairly described as ‘very hard line’ on guns. And the $20 trillion public debt is a mathematical certainty under laws this administration has passed. Respected economists of all political persuasions have criticized these budget moves, only to be frequently smeared, sometimes in what could only be described as a hateful manner, in official on the record US govt communications. And did you notice Treasuries touched 3% today?
And that’s just discussing one example- I raise a lot of issues in the series. Posters in the thread have acknowledged that the works are accurate. There’s a political advocacy angle that I think places all of this in Elections- the material is “scary” and harsh I suppose, but actual events have far more edge than that. Remember the news channels broadcasting “pussy grabbing” for days right before the elections? Things have changed for the coarser.
Anyway, I can respect other people seeing all kinds of things differently. What are you asking me to do? Not make any more posters? Do you have a set of defined lines? All this is hurting the cause because… conservatives can’t stand it when you tell it like it is?
If you can’t be intellectually honest and balanced in calling out hatred, then you aren’t telling it like it is. It is possible for an intellectually honest person to come up with what you did in Poster #2. However there’s a glaring contextual issue that makes this a futile, clueless strategy for impacting conservatives and many independents.
It should have been apparent to those who lived through the 2016 election and used online access to monitor opinions that there is an entrenched perception that too many liberals are not doing much calling out of hatred and bigoted intolerance on their own side, thus being hypocrites who are often self-righteous. It is based in reality to an extent, while many do go overboard with it. Opportunists like Milo Yiannopolous became massively popular in part by taking the piss out of them whenever he could. It’s not just the Trump voter giving the middle finger to those they perceive as the elites. I know of plenty of non-Trump voting conservatives who feel similarly.
And having said that, I do believe a lot of Christians are incorrigible when it comes to Trump; their ignorance is presenting a grave danger to civilization and notions of basic fact checking. I don’t have a good answer for reaching them for the most part, so I do sympathize if that was a significant motive for Poster #2. What I can do is point out counterproductive strategies, I can point out the value of being evenhanded and guarding against being like the hypocrisy we despise.
You need to understand the psychology of the childish games Milo plays. He can’t go after you over anything legitimate unless you give him reason to. He got huge, disastrously near the epicenter of American politics with influence over primarily younger men, when a lot of the things he went after people for had legitimacy. (And certainly he was out of bounds with his provocateuring in other cases. I think he is evil but would gladly ignore him in more normal times.) He has no principles, just saw the opportunity. If Milo saw your post he would probably thank you, because people like you are what helped make his foray to America so lucrative for him. I’m not going to tell you these tactics of yours are all wrong for anyone to use, I’m saying to think it through, if you get down and dirty you’ll be observed whether you can defend your point of view with integrity. It’s like oxygen for so many if you don’t.
Care to bring me up to date about Milo? I have heard of him, I know that he drives college campuses crazy and that now he gets harassed eating lunch, but I know exactly zero about what he promotes. A summary, a link, it’s all good.
So three posters supposedly represent all people on the right? I’d like to hear your explanation of how that is.
Well, you see this one unidentified and possibly existing jogger who once briefly ranted about an electric lawnmower…
You know - “They’re all the same!”
They don’t. They are about what the GOP represents. If you want the “Nazis are good people, we hate Mexicans and how about trillion dollar deficits?” party, then vote GOP.
Now, maybe one group is motivated by the defense if Confederate monuments, another by the racism, another by the religiosity, that’s how they get votes. But pretty much everyone on the Right and the Left and in between wants a stronger economy, jobs, to preserve Social Security and Medicare. We’re on a path to screw all that up, hence “suckers”- people who get conned into voting for what they definitely don’t want.
The same way that one moron with a Twitter account somehow represents all Liberals.
Very good Try2B! That one almost looks like a four year old could have designed it. You get a Gold Star for improving. ![]()
[Christopher Walken] What, is that supposed to hypnotise me?[/CW]
What is that, a lollipop? A target?

Suddenly, I understand how it is that Dennis Miller hasn’t starved.
