Top it with bacon and put maple syrup over it. 
Slate V did a piece (warning: video) last month on embedding various foods in waffles. Their verdict was that embedded bacon and chicken tenders worked well, White Castle sliders (with buns!) went OK but overwhelmed the waffle, and Reese’s peanut butter cups were a burnt failure.
Even better. Will it waffle? More often that not: yes, oh glorious YES!
They call waffles and ice cream “a Snoopy”, 'round here.
Love the Pecan Waffles at The Waffle House… bet you could make a mean “Waffle Sandwich” by topping a pecan waffle with an order of Bacon, WH’s Hash Browns- Scattered, Smothered, Covered, Chunked, Diced, Peppered, Capped, and Topped all the way and then countrified with sausage Gravy, and topping the whole deal with syrup (Pecan Waffle, Bacon, All the Way, Country~)
I’m not sure why, but it might be because of the white and black markings of a waffle topped with vanilla ice cream and hot fudge/chocolate sauce finished with a maraschino cherry.
call me strange, but I like waffles with nothing but butter and maple syrup … on the amazingly rare occasions I allow a sugar death splurge in my life, I melt the butter and syrup together, and use it on the waffles, then i dabble bacon in the syrup afterwards. When I could still manage to eat sausage, I would dabble the sausage in the maple syrup.
Personally, I actually prefer crepes or pancakes to waffles, but my preferred breakfast other than oatmeal is poached eggs and toast with 2 strips of bacon. i am not much for sweets, maybe once a year or so.
I didn’t get it either until I went to Gladys Knight and Ron Winans’ Chicken & Waffles here in Atlanta. Holy Moly that’s some good eatin.
I have a really dumb question - how do you eat chicken and waffles? Do you cut the meat off of the bone with a knife and fork, then cut off a chunk of waffle and eat them together? Wouldn’t it be easier to just use boneless chicken meat?
And a not so dumb question - what’s a good recipe for chicken and waffles? I’m stuck WAY up north and there’s no restaurants nearby that have them.
I thought it might be because of the rounded shape Snoopy makes when he’s lying on his back on his dog house.
L.A.: Roscoes Chicken and Waffles. I thought it was just a made-up name and concept on Sanford and Son and couldn’t figure out how that combination would work, or at least, if it existed all those years, the magic would have worn off.
When I made it to L.A. and my friend who lived there took me, the food was top quality, all the way down to the iced tea.

Normally just butter and real maple syrup for me. Had some great cornmeal waffles once.
Waffleburgers with fried egg and maple syrup “ketchup”.
I will not speak to the mental state of those involved with inventing these, but they actually don’t suck much.

Never been to a Chicken and Waffle House… Here’s a question, what’s the protocol with the Fried Chicken? Do you get served a chicken breast with the waffle, default? Or do you get to pick between the white meat (Breast and Wing) and dark meat (Thigh and Leg), or is it a mix?
Blueberries. This thread reminded me, I had a bag of yummy wild blueberries in the freezer.
A hot pan, a dose of vanilla and a sprinkling of cinnamon later they were gracing a couple of store-brand buttermilk waffles. Heaven! Wish I hadn’t run out of Double Devon, though.
Or Hey! Try this at McDonald’s anytime after Breakfast, see if they’ll do it? But ya gotta promise me you won’t go all Toledo McNugget! on their ass if they can’t fulfill your request.
…Order a Southern Chicken Sandwich, but request a McGriddle bun, bacon, xheese, and pickle.
Cheese and bacon xost extra, of course.
I like cornmeal waffles with crumbled bacon in them, topped with maple syrup.
The basic recipe is on the side of the Jiffy cornmeal muffin mix. I just add a tablespoon or two of crumbled bacon to the batter before putting it in the waffle iron.
Sweet and salty…mmmmm…
