Wait ... this shit is *news*?

I can’t imagine ever being surprised about an entertainment reporter reporting on an entertainment story. And I can’t imagine believing that because one reporter covers entertainment, no one can cover “important things”

gonzoron beat me to it. “Joe Millionaire” gave Fox its highest-rated series premiere since 1998. That plus “American Idol” is making Fox a TV powerhouse like NBC was a few years ago.

Of course, Fox reported on the story as well.

I’ve seen a lot of silly crap on CNN/Showbiz. Don’t see how this is any different. Besides, it was a Reuters story anyway.

Ahem.

[Righteous indignation]
I was fully expecting these comments, so I will reply with a simple, "Nobody who counts watches it.

Lousy, stupid “reality” worthless fucking crapola TV.

[/Righteous indignation]

I watch it. I haven’t watched any other reality show, but this one was just too much of a train wreck to not tune in.

Unless these were home movies they weren’t part of her “personal” life.

“I’m not a snob. Ask anybody. Well, anybody who matters.” – Simon Le Bon

I still think that Po from the Teletubbies doing hot lesbian vids was a better story…

In fairness, I’m sure there’s only a few million people watching that tripe. If that’s true (and I’m too lazy to back up my assertion), then that would mean that less than 1% of the U.S. population is watching Joe Millionaire. I would consider that to be nobody.

According to Fox News: “The show drew more than 20 million viewers on Monday, its biggest audience yet.”

Please don’t be lazy if you’re going to make such an assertion.

An non sequitor observation about the OP title: While that shit might not be news, this shit is most definately entertainment.

It’s news only if you’re naive enough to believe that people who work in the sex industry take vows of occupational chastity, promising to forsake all other work. There are a lot of bondage models doing mainstream stuff, mostly horror and softcore stuff, but they do a fair amount of small parts in TV and A list movies as well.

Frex, a bondage model had a role in the first Brady Bunch movie. Small role, but still.

It’s just so amazing – a bondage model was offered a mainstream gig, and took it! Who’d a thunk it?

You know what scares me the most? CNN et al are apparently reading www.fark.com to get their news.

If you are looking for news on the CNN site, can I suggest you look on the front page:

…where I can count at least five stories on the war with Iraq, and many other stories that may interest you. However, I would reccomend that you stay away from the Entertainment Sections, lest your “pit rant” level’s begin to rise again…and if you want to rant about reality TV shows, maybe you should be more specific in your Opening Post?

Banquet Bear, maybe you should just suck it up.

If my “pit rant level’s” aren’t up to your sterling standards don’t bother reading them.

Otherwise, I’ll be sure to enter whatever pathetic excuse of a rant you start some day and be sure to denounce it as the lame horseshit it is.

Is my consternation at the sensationalism of the news industry too bourgeois for your upper-class palate?

Maybe I should wait until I have a topic of world-shattering importance before I post a thread that you will be forced to read.

Or maybe you should just fuck off.

I believe it was Hawthorne who recently used the word “otiose”. It certainly applies to CNN’s report.

No.

The Smoking Gun broke this story.

Yes, but it was posted on fark. I saw it there, and so did 51,933 other people.

So what? CNN didn’t find out about it there.
