I think someone has been out of the loop.
If you mean I hadn’t read a single post in the thread, you’re right. (Whoops.) If you mean I didn’t hear what’s happened with Brees, you’re wrong.
Woulda shoulda coulda then.
By “next Antonio Gates with better blocking skills”, you of course mean “Jeremy Shockey”, who the Giants sort of traded up in the first round to get. (They only moved up one spot, from 15 to 14, by offering their fourth rounder.) That’s not helpful, so hear’s a link to a sample draft value chart. That page doesn’t mention the dropoff in future pick value, but I seem to recal that future picks are worth about half their normal value.
Unfortunately, that means to trade up from 26th to the top ten, you’re swapping your 1st, 2nd, plus next year’s 1st. Not worth it. (That would be more than the Giants gave up in the Eli deal, for example.)
I like them as well, Karlos Dansby in particular.
This Mario Williams guy better be damn good with all the talk I hear of the Saints drafting him. Will Smith and Charles Grant are young and have performed very well, and we need tons of help at LB. I wouldn’t mind seeing them go after D’Brickshaw in the spot, but if they trade down to, say, the 4-8 spot, I would like to see them go after Hawk or even give Brees his own version of Gates in Vernon Davis.
No. He sucks. He steals candy and kicks puppies. And his leg is broken. Leave him alone.

Omniscent, you think Chicago has been quiet, what about the Pats? The entire team has taken a walk. It’s almost like New England is the farm club for other teams now coached by ex-Pats coaches. Well, anyway, Belichick knows this shit better than I do, so I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt. He certainly plays the un-sentimentalism card as well as anyone in the business. But damn, I hope they sign Vinatieri.
Hey, bad news is at least news.
I have high hopes for Blackstock drafted last year. Karlos has done well his first two years and seems to have yet met his full potential. James Darling is my personal favorite. Sure he is the “old man” of the three, he seems to make plays every time he is on the field. He is also the unquestionable glue that holds the younger Lb’s focused. Hayes is up and coming, but for now a special teams hawk. Did get involved more on the defensive side late in the season. Huff adds vet leadership, and is a good rotational player. Keys is another special teamer.
So, depth is needed but not a serious issue.

yeah, i think he’s one of three. be nice to him, he can slither back in the cracks in the desert if he’s frightened.
the kicker is gone, but you have added reche caldwell. where’s the confetti and the band? i don’t sense HAPPINESS. he’s a fast, young reciever. i liked david givens, but i think caldwell will serve as a suitable replacement.
ooh…by the way, it’s 1:18 on saturday and joe harrington still hasn’t been traded/dropped. i heard we were going to get a third round pick for him from the chiefs. if we do, i’m all for that.
so, about the wonderful quarterback carousel i like to call the detroit lions, what do you guys think?
For the record: A star is born: Owens signs with the Cowboys.
Let’s all enjoy as this melts down with monumental proportions. Couldn’t happen to a better team.
Me? never I am not smart enough to hide my passion for Arizona football. We are due!!! I am a firm believer we will get to the superbowl in my lifetime.

It’s not up on any of the major sites yet, but there are preliminary reports coming out of some New England media outlets that Vinatieri has reached a preliminary agreement with the Indianapolis Colts, though they apparently can’t do anything official for three days because Vinatieri just switched agents. There is no news coming out of anything “official” at this point, but the local evening sports shows are reporting it and talking about it.
That would obviously be pretty big… would kick the recent rivalry between the two teams up another notch, and likely would shake some of the local faith in the “Whatever They Do Is Right 'Till It Fails” school of thought (Though everyone is busy being distracted by the Sox at the moment). Also, what a waste of Vinatieri, in a silly dome. Blah.
the cards gonna play the lions in the NFC championship game?
wow…i did not know that…
that IS gonna make it rather interesting between em, huh?
i like!
New England is clearly trying out this strategy of letting everyone walk and replacing them with younger, cheaper people. I have to say, they’ve had good luck in the past picking guys off the scrap heap come cut-down time. It’s ballsy, and the fact is, if this were anywhere else, the fans would be going apeshit. Here people have learned to trust Belichik and Pioli. Of course, if the team comes in 6-10 next year…
Oh, and if I were GM, I would have given Vinatieri whatever he asked for. Way too often, the ability to kick a field goal is the only that stands between success and self-loathing. Witness the playoffs the year before last.
