Up - the barking that woke me was apparently in a dream since Scruffy was all curled up and asleep when I ventured from bed. It’s cooled a bunch and drizzled a wee bit. We’re supposed to get rain thru Weds, which is great.
Everyone is up and about. I need to make some 'nanner muffins to use up the overripe 'nanners. And I’m making meatloaf for supper. That’s pretty much the plans for the day. Lots of serious chill will go on.
I’m a hero today. Last night was the annual Mayberry VFD Shrimp Feast. I took a medical bag and drug box from the last ambualnce in rotation along because of past history. The fire chief gave me a load of crap when I took it in… Well, a girl developed a reaction to the shrimp, and we gave her an armful of Benadryl on the spot; she was fine within 10 minutes. The same chief told me when it was over that he was glad I brought the stuff. I think I’ll suggest we park an ambulance next year.
There also seems to be a critical mass of roughly 400 attendees. Exceed that, and you get the problems with drunks picking fights, lost kids, etc. We had only 340 tickets counted at the end of the night, and it was extremely uneventful. Our only ‘problem’ was some idiot vet who was campaigning for the Republican Congressional candidate, who insisted on open carry of a firearm. I’m the last person to be anti-gun, but I thought it was inappropriate for someone politicking. The sheriff didn’t like it for a different reason: all the beer we were serving. The campaign worker ended up putting it away under threat of a trespass charge.
I know someone who has an unpredictable-in-severity reaction to shellfish. He carries a supply of EpiPens when he goes to Legal Seafood for dinner with his wife.
BBBobbio you done good imo. Well, the fact that you used the Benadryl proved that but still, you done good. It is a wise thing to have first aid supplies on hand at any gathering.
I am deheathenated and lunched. I am takin’ a nappy poo cause I want one then defilthyfyin’ of da cave shall commence.
I am still waitin’ on all the rain we’re supposed to be gettin’.
Good onya Bobbio. Our local volunteer fire guys like to go to any large gathering around here. I like that about them.
Up and fed, and decaffienated. We aren’t allowed caffiene.
Gonna be a slow day today. I’ma go to the grocery sto and get a few things, then I’ve got a little project in the garage to glue and screw together, and then maybe push the mop around. The kitchen & bathroom linoleum is filthy. It’s a little drizzley and cool here.
As it should be.
And he eats seafood, too? This seems like a bad idea to me. My mom is allergic and is very wary of it. There’s no way that she’d even go to a restaurant that just sold seafood.
Still awake, but barely. I’ve got 'nanner muffins in the oven. And I just remembered I’d put some clothes in the washer this morning - I should probably shovel them into the dryer.
We’ve got a tank ready to be made a hospital tank for our fish with the ick. Two at a time will go in till they’re cured. It should take a month or so to get them all in and out. Good times.
Inlaws leave in the morning. It’s been a nice visit, but it’ll be nice to get the house back to its usual routine. Ziva will be gladdest - she’s been hiding most of the week.
I’m ashamed to admit that I made a mediocre-to-bad meatloaf. It just didn’t taste quite right. Oh well - no one puked, so there’s that.
The car is being packed. By this time tomorrow, they’ll be in the train headed south and I’ll probably be doing laundry. It’s been a nice visit, but I’m ready to resume my normal life. I also need sleep tonight - I’s tahred!!
I-40 west of Raleigh to the Tennessee border in heavy rain: judged, found highly annoying.
Jerks driving on I-40 west of Raleigh to the Tennessee border with HALOGEN HEADLIGHTS: judged, found worthy of slaps with decaying trout.
My night vision when driving in rain: judged, found quite deficient and will probably result in me getting a restriction on my license in about ten years.
I visited Older Sister and her brood today. Niece liked the glitter pens I gave her to decorate her cast. Baby Nephew adored the large lollipop I gave him. Middle Nephew was cool with everything. My First Potholder was admired and compared to one my mom made years and years and years ago. She did something with the loop that I don’t know how to duplicate. <WARNING: only yarny people should read past this point>My hanging loop is a simple chain stitch. Hers was a chain stitch with some other kind of stitch reinforcing it. I can’t tell if she single crocheted over the chain stitch or what. Does anyone know anything about this?
