want to see a specific trial, legal dopers, a hand please?

Ahhhh how I love the smell of napalm in the morning

Microsoft Corp. v. J&T Computers & Parts (Fresno, California), alleging distribution of counterfeit and infringing Windows XP Pro software.
Case No. 1:06-CV-01747-OWW-LJO

BOOM!

I just found this…considering the dozens of people I have helped with machines from this place, I stand in awe in anticipation of the Bill Gates of Hell releasing their Minions of Doom on these pirates.

OK the question, assuming this has not gone to trial yet, how would I find out when this trial is to be and if it has passed how to get a copy of the transcripts.

Wait till you see it reported in the news. Transcripts will likely run to tens of thousands if you try to purchase them from the court reporter. You never know when a specific case is going to start. Especially civil cases. There could be many extensions of the trial date. Not saying it can’t be done, just that it is more trouble than it is worth.

Oh I thought some kind of report was a matter of public record and could be fairly easily aquired for a duplication fee.

Considering I own a computer shop I am very interested in seeing how something like this goes down.

I consider it worth a little time and effort to try and attend.

That case number looks like a Federal Case Number. Here is the page.

THese types of cases take years to get to trial. When was it filed? Remember tha the vast majority of cases qare settled before trial and no disclosure is made.

The case was filed in December, 2006. Microsoft filed multiple lawsuits around the country that week. I read this in a December 6th story in the Fresno Bee. Microsoft had sent them letters since 2001!! telling them to stop it.

No follow up story that I could find.

If you go to the Eastern District of California’s Court Calendars page, you can selct Judge Wanger, the assigned judge, and see what he has on for the next few days. It also has the name and number of his Courtroom Deputy (CRD), the court clerk responsible for his calendar, who may be able to provide additional information.

If you have an account with Pacer, the federal court electronic filing information system, you can go the Eastern District’s Electronic Case Management page and pull up the case docket and all papers which have been electronically filed (which should be virtually all of them), at the low, low price of eight cents per page. I don’t think they automatically put transcripts up on Pacer unless they have been separately filed in the case.
