Wanted! City of Heroes Players!

I’m up for it. I’ll havbe to auto exemp, but I wnt the badge more than anything. And it’s always good to have more CECILians than pick up players, since in my experience we are a lot less likeyl to quit for no reason.

As a fairly new player to CoH I was looking for a SG that does not blow too much and I read this here thread to see if there were any active SDMB SGs out there. No really current posts about SGs so I thought I would ask.

The “official” SDMB super group is called CECIL, and it’s in Virtue.

The CECIL roster and board is here.

New inspiriations being added soon: Damage Resistance!

I’m glad of that, and had thought about such a thing just the other day.

Why, if my Invulnerability tanker popped two of the big ones, every sixty seconds, he’d be almost as effective as he was before I5!

That’d be just about equal to my SR scrapper then. Oh wait, everyone else can just pop 4 lucks.
:frowning:

As teammates within 300’ of you are damaged, you get a discount on Endurance usage for your powers. This is based on the overall % of Hit Points they have remaining. (So the more damaged they are, the cheaper the Endurance cost on your powers).

Um…what’s the difference between Defense and Damage Resistance?

And can you “stack” inspirations? Like if you activate more than one Defense are you that much more protected? I always assumed that was not the case and avoided wasting them.

AFAIK, Defense keeps you from being hit whereas with Damage Resistance you get hit as much but sustain less damage.

Not sure about inspirations being stackable. FWIW, I don’t recall seeing anything that says they aren’t.

I just asked about those Inspirations over on IGN’s CoH board and was told that they do stack until the cap is reached.

Here’s the logic behind the values:

The logic makes sense to me - Usually being a blaster with no defense or resistance. According to the rest of the post, it sounds like they may adjust the values upwards after testing.

It sounds like the devs have learned a valuable lesson. It is better to introduce a new power/enhancement/inspiration with low values and balance upwards, than to have to balance downwards.

I think I’ve figured out where they’re going with this ED thing. Those who haven’t been following the ED concept all along will have to attack more often, thus using more endurance. So I say they want everyone to be running low on endurance toward the end of long fights. They want us to feel like our toons are really fighting for their lives and not beating up some gangster just for the hell of it. They’re trying to add to our sense of accomplishment.

I have been following the ED concept all along and defeating a half dozen Rikti while running low on endurance is more fun than wiping out a complex full of Council with the endurance bar hardly moving. I’ve done both: the council was before I5 and the Rikti after.

Oh, and while I’m here: SR Scrappers will be getting some damage resistance.

NDA’s lifted. I’ve been testing in CoV. It’s been ugly. I am, relative to an even level Tsoo, less powerful at L28 with SOs, than I was at L18, with full DOs.

So, I’ve got a ‘fun new link’ if anyone wants to look at it. Nice wallpapers behind it. Right here.
It’s part of that Streetwise thing they were doing a while back. Woop. But I figured you might be interested. Click the Downloads link on the page that loads. I kind of like crouching Lord Recluse.

Anyone have any CoV questions, ask away, NDA’s lifted.

I’m pretty freakin’ scared of ED.

My main is a Dark Melee/Regeneration speedster. I rely on Stamina and Quick Recovery, both of which can only take endurance recovery enhancements. I also have Resilience, which can only take damage resistance enhancements. Oh, and I’ve got at least two different regeneration powers which only use health recoveries. Every one of those powers is going to be simply gutted when ED comes out.

I also use permaHasten to keep my powers recycling at a decent rate- that’s going to go away, too.

I have a feeling that my character will become completely unplayable. Of course, I have no real way to test this… but looking at the numbers, that seems to be what’s going to happen.

As far as endurance issues… I started an alt just recently. An Invulnerability/Energy Melee. I’ve got him to level 13 right now… and it’s just been painful. If I don’t just sit there, doing nothing, I run out of endurance incredibly fast. If I try to fight, I have to do it without my toggles- because they drain end too fast. I’ve got an endurance decrease enhancement on every one of my attacks and on my toggles. Every fight ends with me just waiting for my endurance to build up so I can hit them once… and then wait some more.

That’s not fun. In my opinion, sitting around watching a blue bar fill up enough so you can press a button is NEVER fun. I’m really annoyed with this.

THAT’S why everyone takes Stamina (and Hasten)- just to get the game up to a “fun” level. And that’s why I’m really annoyed with the Dev’s decision to go with ED- because they’re taking away even THAT way to get around the game being tedious.

Sure you do. Copy him to the test server and remove the extra enhancements. Or leave in those enhancements and wait until they start actively testing ED there, which should be sometime this week.

Assuming you have both six slotted, you’ve just freed up six slots to use elsewhere. All powers are having their endurance cost reduced by 10-15% I forget how much exactly. This was supposed to be included in the original ED announcement.

They’re pretty much gutted now. Any more than four slots in your regen secondary is (IMHO) a waste of slots. The numbers were posted after I5. The difference between four and six slots were negligible.

Three slot hasten, and use it before fights. Sure you can no longer “fire and forget” but you should still be okay.

No character is completely unplayable. If you still have your last freespec, then copy your character to the test server, and try out different combinations.

My endurance problems tend to go away after adding Stamina… even before the slots. The slots were just gravy. And I’ve only ever perma-hastened one character.
