Yeah, I got an email telling me I can play again till Sunday. Too bad my desktop isn’t set up, otherwise they might have been succesful in getting me to sign back up.

If you’ve been out for more than a couple of months, prepare to wait several hours just to get everything up and running again. There’s been multiple complaints of the autoupdater only running about 15kps, even on high speed connections, and there’s a few hundred meg of downloads to get through.

As I said, last night it took about seven or probably even eight hours to patch everything up properly. I started at about four pm and it didn’t finish until after midnight.

(Is CECIL still up and about on Virtue, or failing that, is it still the global channel for Doper chat?)

No clue. I don’t suppose there’s a European servers version on Defiant or Vigilance? (Or even the french server, I could probably get by on that).

If you haven’t played in a while, we may have kicked your characters from CECIL to make room for others. You’re welcome back in any time – if I’m on (@Brainiac4 is my global handle) I can invite you.
There was some wackiness with one of the West Coast servers that screwed up global friends lists and chat channels. You may need to resubscribe to #CECIL. @Culex, @Balanced, @Kerzak are all ops for #CECIL and can invite.

We also have a spinoff villain group on Protector, the Urban Legends.

Over the years, Mark Brown searched for Ms. Right in all the usual places: at parties, work functions and the occasional singles bar. He ended up meeting her inside a videogame.

Mr. Brown was sitting at his computer in England, controlling a character named Mighty Thud in an online game called City of Heroes. Across the ocean in Maryland, Jody Petroff guided a figure named Molecule Witch.

The two superhero characters began chatting after each survived a brutal ambush by villains. “We seemed to work on the same wavelength,” the 38-year-old Mr. Brown says of the couple’s first online exchange of text messages. “There was something that first night, something about the personality behind the keyboard.”

Soon, the two, who both are computer programmers, were playing and chatting online every day. Three days ago, they were married. “Meeting Mark was completely surprising, but he’s the most wonderful thing that’s ever happened to me,” says Ms. Petroff, 37.

I dusted off my Robotics/Traps MM (and reestablished the CECIL global channel) and hit level 6, so now robot Sparky has a friend. I tried naming the new 'bot “Buzz” but found that the game wouldn’t let me! WTF is wrong with “Buzz”?

The new robot does have a name but I can’t remember what it is ATM.

My son had the same problem with his MM – he couldn’t name a zombie “Logan”. I think it’s names on the protected list.

Specifically, for each increment of three months played, players will unlock special costumes, powers, badges, and more! The program is retroactive by player account and rewards will be applicable to all characters within each respective account.

*This means time that players have already played counts towards their rewards!

Don’t complain. My desktop is down and my laptop can’t handle the graphics of CoH/V. I haven’t been able to get online in months. With luck I will have my finances set by November so I can get it fixed and back online. But I will miss the Halloween event.
