Well, I am @Justice Blues, or at least I was the last time I could get on. I know there have been some problems with the Global channels since then, so I don’t know if I still am. And until I get things going here, I won’t be able to find out.

I started a newbie on Virtue, a controller named “Monopole”. He’s a magnetism controller… well, he would be if that power existed in the game. Functionally, he’s a Gravity/Sonics Controller. Hope to hook up with ya’ll soon.

We heartily welcome new folks, even if they only join the Global Chat, and not the SGs. And we don’t have any level restriction on joining the SGs, nor any prestige requirements (although since it doesn’t hurt you to have it on until hitting level 25, it’s nice if you can), so don’t feel like you need to wait until you have a travel power or something to ask in.
We have our own message board/screenshot sharing service that I host (no ads, pretty much always up), and we also use it for organizing TFs and like. You don’t have to be in the SG to join up if you want. This site is http://sdmb.culex.us/ It’s not horribly active, but many of us at least read the forum regularly. Pretty much nobody but me posts screenshots anymore and that makes me sad.
Anyway, just so you guys know, ANYONE in the Virtue or Protector SG can /sgi anyone at any time, although if I don’t know who it is I’ll have to ask. ANYONE can join the CECIL global chat as well, and again I’ll ask if it’s not blatantly obvious which SDMB member you are. I’ve had a few non-CECILs come in just curious as hell why anyone would have a global chat named so. Ha.
If you’re new to the game from being inspired from this thread, or new to global channels, here’s a quick guide to what most of us do to be able to read & talk in the chat room without trouble:
Right click inside your main chat tab window (usually labelled Chat). Decide if you want the low-volume CECIL chatter in the main chat tab, so you see it, or in its own tab, where you have to click the tab to view. If you want it in its own tab, choose ADD TAB in the right-click menu. Note the blue buttons in the center of the popup. Click JOIN CHANNEL and type in CECIL. Note how it goes into the left side of the popup. Enter a chat name in the top, like CECIL. (Alternately, if you want to add CECIL to your existing Chat tab, choose EDIT TAB, then JOIN CHANNEL, CECIL.) Press OK.
Beware! Due to the weird chat system, now it assumes you want to talk in CECIL immediately so everything you say will go there, until you choose another chat option (left-click on the very bottom of the chat pane that says CECIL, choose where to talk, like Team or Local or whatever). When you want to talk to us in CECIL, you must either type /send cecil [message] (in the same style as /t [message] sends to team or /b [message] sends to broadcast), or do the left-click and choose CECIL.
Sort Of Advanced: It’s annoying to talk in the chat room by hand. Most people make a simple key bind to do it for them. I, for example, use ENTER to chat normally in the selected type of chat, and use CTRL+ENTER just to talk in CECIL. It’s slightly more difficult to mistype things to CECIL this way. This bind automatically types the "/send cecil " part, so you only have to press CTRL+ENTER, then start typing your message. Easy! All you have to do to do this, is to type “**/bind ctrl+enter start chat$$beginchat /send cecil **” (without the quotes of course) and add a space at the very end! Otherwise it would think a message of ‘Hi there’ was someone saying ‘there’ to the chat room cecilHi. If you would prefer hitting ALT+ENTER, you can substitute ALT for CTRL…or SHIFT, or substitute another key entirely.
I’m pretty sure this info is down deep in this thread but hey, I’m bored, and the old info may be incorrect by now anyway, or at least have way too many steps that aren’t necessary. It may look silent in the chat room sometimes, but we LIKE to talk, we just need a trigger.

CECIL needs whatever you feel like playing. We’re easy like that. We should have room in the SG. If not, I can get one of my non-played alts kicked.

It took them THIS long to add trenchcoats? Man, I thought that would have been sooner, the way people were demanding them.
That’s almost enough to make me come back, but:
a) Everyone and their mother will now have a brooding super-hero in a black trenchcoat,
and b) I am waaaaaaay too poor.
bouv, the trenchcoats are part of the Veteran Rewards. A lot of stuff added in depending on how long your account is active. Since your account has been inactive for a while, you wouldn’t get all the rewards, but you would get quite a bit. I haven’t been able to actually play the game since July because of computer problems, but my account has been active, so when I get the desktop going again, I will have some fun things to play with.
Yes, there were trenchcoats and wings everywhere last night.
Police scanner missions: w00t! Now you’ll never be without a mission.
I have not tried the safegaurd missions, but they sound promising.
Another nice feature they’ve added, is you can now tell whether you have any open story lines.
Maus, let’s fill your Police Radio bar tonight or tomorrow night (if we aren’t Demon Slaying) and run one of those safeguard missions. Those were the best things about CoV.
sigh, haven’t been a villian in awhile. But I’m so close to my first 50.
Some free costume changes, I think one every six months, are also part of Veteran Rewards. Unless you need that free change for another reason, you can get the trenchcoat (or anything else) at no charge.
The trenchcoats are funny-looking, and not very trenchcoaty. More like a jacket plus a short cape attached to your belt. Wings are cool, although I don’t have any toons they’d make sense for right now.
Sands of Mu + Air Superiority + Earth Control = Scraptrollerly goodness! Haven’t tried out the undead slaying axe yet.
I unlocked my Faultline contact last night. Looking forward to checking out the revamped zone next.
I haven’t tried out a safeguard mission yet. My wife has tried out most of the I8 features on the Test server, and claims that they’re annoying, difficult, and not much fun.

Ok, I made a mistake at first- I made a villain on the Virtue server; you have the hero group on that one, no wonder I never found anybody.
I have an active VG on Victory, the low-population server. My global handle is @E.Normus
I have trenchcoats for 2 of my villains so far, but I’m waiting to get the respec and wings.
Is anyone else having disconnects much more than usual? I couldn’t keep a team together last night, everyone kept dropping and re-verifying so it took 10-15 mins for each person to return.
Sometime this week I’m going to get a villain on the Protector server; if I don’t see any of you in Victory I’ll see you there.
Make sure you join the Global Channel CECIL.
