Oh my god Fish is Hertz is Stan and Lou? I, @Culex, love those so absolutely much. So extra accolades for being a Doper. You are the best ever.
A rare Culex sighting! Someone duct tape him down!
I posted more Stan and Lou today, #21 in Boomtown. It helps while away the hours when the auction prices are sky-high for even the simplest little things.
Her.
Thank you Brainy. And fine, I bookmarked this thread although it’s not like I’m ever needed to talk about stuff with y’all around.

Are the inspiration storage units in the CECIL base for anyone to take inspirations from? No one in the sg is ever online to ask.
An excellent question. I have put stuff in a few times, but have not yet taken anything out. I suspect that making use of group resources is fine, but wholesale plundering would be bad form.
They’re available for anyone’s use. The basic Tier-2 inspirations, in particular, are provided for the convenience of SG members. I have a nice, farmable Kora mission that supplies as many as we want. If we start running low, let me (@Balanced) know, and I’ll restock 'em. The only ones I can’t replace are resistance and break-free types.
The “special” inspirations, like Presents, should generally be left alone. Some members like to save them as souvenirs, or to give to people later. Ambrosia’s probably fair game, but it would be best to ask around, in case someone’s saving it for a planned Eden run.
Awesome, thanks! I had already taken some before it occurred to me that “storage unit” meant just that – storage, as opposed to vending machine, and I shouldn’t be taking stuff that didn’t belong to me. The log showed that it was mostly the people who were putting stuff in that were taking them out, so I was afraid I had committed a faux pas. :o
I won’t abuse the privilege and will generally get my inspirations from contacts, but it’s a tremendous convenience in the middle of a tough mission to be able to teleport to the base, grab some inspirations, and use the base portal to put me right back outside the mish.
My guy is Astromaster, by the way – hope to see some of you some time.
For both CECIL and Urban Legends:
Inspirations: PLEASE TAKE THEM. I had to buy a THIRD machine to hold them in the hero base! I don’t use them pretty much ever, so they end up piling up. Take them and sell them for the Inspiring badge if you want too.
Enhancements: While we were only storing 51/52/53 ones, these have become rather obsolete with IOs. Nobody seems to use them anyway. I would say you could take a few and pawn them for money if you need; the bins are also a good way to transfer enhancements to a lower level character, by dumping some in and then swapping over and removing them. (If you see any sub-50 enhancements, they may be in storage for that reason so I would ask to not remove them just in case.)
Salvage: I don’t even know why we’re holding on to so much. I guess one day we might get some of those temp power vending machines? That’s Bal’s job. Taking the Halloween 5th Costume Salvage is NOT prohibited, BUT it is monitored. If you want a 5th costume slot, go ahead and take a set, but send a message to @Culex (me) or @Balanced (Bal) when you do so just to make sure we know what’s up. We won’t mind.
(And yeah, we’re not often on characters in the CECIL SG, but we’re always in the global chat room, so feel free to babble in there and someone might respond, ha.)
sigh
I tried to play this weekend to learn inventions, but my internet connection has been wonky these past couple of weeks, and Verizon is dicking around trying to lay blame and not fix. So I fixed it - I called up Time Warner for cable internet. Unfortunately, the appointment is sometime in the year 2615*, so I’ve got a little while until I can enjoy online games.
*slight exaggeration
I didn’t anticipate bothering with the invention system at all, but I’ve played around a little bit with making invented enhancements. It’s not too complicated or cumbersome, and basically worthwhile since I’ve made a number of enhancements that boost my accuracy by something like 19.2%, which is pretty darn good, I think.
So my stance at the moment is that I’ll make whatever I can make with whatever salvage I happen to have. I’m still not going to go out of my way to get stuff at Wentworth’s, at least not while prices are so outrageously high.
Incidentally, how much is our base rent per month and how much do you need from an individual member?
We had the same problem with Cox. The connection was unreliable, especially during the peak usage hours of about 6 to 10 PM. We called Cox repeatedly, and their knee-jerk reaction every time was to tell us it was our computer’s fault. Then they would run their diagnostics, realize it was the neighborhood node, and say they were sending someone to fix it. Lather, rinse, repeat…several times. And the node never got fixed. Finally, a few weeks ago, we dropped Cox and switched to Verizon, and we’ve been golden ever since. Please don’t tell me Verizon pulls the same crap.
We’ve had about 9-10 years of excellent Verizon DSL service, but now that something needs to be fixed, it’s hard getting the repairs. If I have the same luck with RoadRunner, Verizon FiOS should be available in my area when it’s time to switch again.
They recently changed the rent structure so that it’s based on plot size. Since we’re on the minimum plot, we no longer have to pay rent. The only thing we need prestige for now is base items, and we don’t really have room for much more stuff in the base. I think we’ve crammed plenty of functionality into the base as it is, and I don’t foresee upgrading to a plot that would require rent payments.
At this point, I would suggest playing in SG-mode until you hit level 24 (where the influence rewards start to drop off), then switch out. There’s no harm in accumulating a little extra prestige in case something new comes along, but I see no point in anyone taking an influence hit to do so.
I didn’t realize they had changed the rent structure. That’s good to know.
D_odds, road runner’s not too bad. I’ve been using it for the last eight years without a hitch.
I’ll be on more regularly as soon as the new baby start sleeping during the night.
Double XP Event Timing:
Start: Friday, June 15th at 8:59am PST / 11:59am EST
Finish: Sunday, June 17th, 8:59pm PST / 11:59pm EST
Woohoo.
That’s great, Toaster. That is when we expect to have cable up and running. Right now, I can’t stay connected for more than 10 minutes straight, and sometimes the outage will be up to 2 minutes (usually though it’s only about 10 seconds or so). No fun for online games!
