Wanted: You've moved away and I miss you very much songs

You get the gist. Shouldn’t be anything too mushy, since said movee is not my girlfriend. Just a very close friend.

I’m drawing a complete blank on appropriate songs. I was checking the “break up songs” thread, but they’re just too heartbroken…ya know? 'Course, I haven’t checked them all out yet.

Anyone?

So Far Away by Dire Straits and New Kid in Town by The Eagles.

Bruce Springsteen’s Bobby Jean

Since You’re Gone, The Cars–or is that too mushy?
Leavin’ On A Jet Plane, Peter, Paul & Mary
Thank God and Greyhound She’s Gone, Roy Clark (possibly inappropriate)

Time by the Alan Parsons Project.

“Missing” Everything But the Girl.

Not quite on point, but poignant:

“Our Town” Iris Dement

Sorta mushy, but:

2000 Miles - The Pretenders

Oh yeah, here’s a really good one (not mushy):

You Woke Up My Neighborhood - Billy Bragg

An oldie & perhaps a bit mushy:

“So Far Away” - Carole King

“Every Time You Go Away”, by…er…that guy…with that group.

Another one:

"Soul Sister" - Blue Mountain

‘Leaving on a Jet Plane’ but not by P, P & Mary!!
What about Chantal Kreviazuk’s version? (apols for spelling) Great version.
‘Tempted’ Squeeze
‘Come back and Stay’ Paul Young

J.A.R. by Green Day. Great song.

But that one’s about death…kind of.

There’s a Weezer non-album track called Waiting on You. It starts out: “Why / Haven’t you called me? / Did you forget me?” Then it moves on to bitterness: “Who/ Have you been seeing? / That made you forget me” … “Bet he’s just a friend.” It’s a good song, you should be able to find it on kazaa or something.

16 Days” by Lori Carson. There simply is no better “I miss you” song.

Great Suggestions, y’all. One that I thought fit well was I Miss You by Incubus. It has a little bit about it there regarding smelling her skin on the pillow, which actually sorta fits, though you folks wouldn’t know that. Again, great suggestions. Thanks much!

I second Missing by Everything but the Girl.

I’d also like to suggest Valentine by the Get Up Kids and I’d Do Anything by Simple Plan.

Ooh ooh!! And Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd.
You’re right, I Miss You by Incubus is a rad song.

“What’ll I do” is a great torchy pop standard. Rufus Wainwright and his mom and sis do a great version of it.

See How I Miss You by Bruce Cockburn

Rays of the moon make magic in the streets of the city
All the people get strange but their faces look so pretty
The walking graffiti, survivalist bums
Even the secret police shout that you’re the one
See how I miss you

Every psychopath gets his own magazine these days
I just read about how I can kill in a hundred ways
But I don’t want to cause anybody pain
I only want to hold you in my arms again
See how I miss you
