Warning: Explicit descriptions of animal abuse:May These Rat Bastards Fry In Hell !

I’ll cheerfully withdraw any rodent references from this thread. I’ve owned rats, mice and hamsters in my time and they’re all fine animals. There is one documented case of a rat saving its owner’s life by waking her up when the house was on fire.

As much as I do not like killing animals, if you could see the huge amount of damage these wild rodents have done, you might understand why I have taken such measures. Even the glue in an antique book’s spine represents a fine meal for one of these roof rabbits.

Instead, we’ll go for the title:

May These Scumbag Bastards Fry In Hell !!!

To call these little shits animals does all animals a disservice. In recent years, I have taken to refering to such vermin as creatures.

Again, thank you everyone for your kind words. If you haven’t been to my MPSIMS thread, Zen is here at my feet and is doing a lot better than could be expected for just 24 hours later. All of your well wishing has really touched my heart and made it a lot easier to bear what I had to witness yesterday. I suppose I need to see if my services will be of use to any of the other people who suffered in this string of crimes.

I’ll be talking to the young couple in a few minutes here. I may even send them the URL for this thread. Maybe they’ll even be moved enough to post to it. All I know is that I’m going to be there to cheer when the sentences are handed down.

PLEASE don’t forget to keep us informed as to the progress of the trial!

what happened to my lemures? does noone think that that would be the best thing for people like this to end up as?

AndYrAStar,

While the ultrasonic might work on the rats, you have to remember that he has a dog also, which could also be affected by the Ultrasound.

What everybody has said so far and more, Zenster; Thank you for standing up for what’s right, and for doing the grim business of taking those pictures, and I, like everyone else here (so far) wish the very best for yer buddy -

I find it a pity that such an excellent insult as ‘rat-bastard’ (my mental picture is of the 18" long, oil-covered, hold-over from the Black Plague that went scuttling across a piazza in Spoleto, Italy one fine afternoon) can’t be used without defaming the intelligent, loving, precocious beasts that I’ve known as pets. I suppose I’ll have to rethink my recent use of “pig bastard” for similar reasons. wink

What those little bastards did is absolutely disgusting. I hope the judge is a card carrying ASPCA member who throws the book at them.

Zenster, how’s your dog? I hope that he is on the mend. My parents’ puppy got into some rat poison a few weeks ago, and although she felt pretty low for a few days, she’s fine now. Best of wishes to your furry friend, and please keep us posted.

*Nightingale goes off to find her kitty and give her a great big hug

Zenster, you’re a beautiful guy for helping the cat’s people out in a time of need, when you could have easily been absorbed with your own pet’s trauma and not have had the time to spare.

I don’t understand what can make a person sick enough to torture a defenseless animal for “fun”. Their hearts must be entirely hollowed and angry, and they need to be taken off the streets. What they did was cold-blooded murder, and I hope the courts treat it as such. Your photographs will certainly serve as evidence, and bless you for having the guts to do that miserable job. You relieved the cat’s folks and the vet’s from having an added emotional burden of staring at that horror more than they had to. That’s a mighty graceful act.

I hope your dog Zen will recuperate swiftly. I’m sure that knowing he has a devoted, loving companion like you by his side has given him the greatest strength to pull through.

Take good care of the both of you…

Oh. SHIT! There, something finally made the Christian girl swear!
Zenster, Bless you for helping those people! I can’t even imagine what they must be going through. May your own pup have many happy, healthy years and may he die peacefully in his sleep at the age of about 18. Preferably with a Guiness Book entry under “Wolf cross-oldest”.
We lost our own Shep/Wolf this year. He’d had arthritis for a while, so when he started to have a hard time walking, we just assumed that was the problem. I gave him an asprin, as the vet had advised when he was diagnosed, so at least whatever killed him, probably the pain was somewhat dulled. He waited until the kids and I left for work and school, then just lay down, looked at my husband and died. We couldn’t afford to have him autopsied, so we’ll never be sure. He was a pound dog and we had him eight years. It may (I hope) have just been age.
I cannot even imagine what those …things… must have been thinking. To harm a helpless animal is about as low as you can get.
Zenster, about the rats. I too have pet rats; in fact one is a wild rat. I got him as a half grown baby and I think I will eventually get him completely tame. I have managed to hand tame wild mice and other animals before. May I suggest live traps? You may be able to rent them from your SPCA (oops! States! ASPCA!) or find them at a pet supply or large hardwear store. Once the rat is trapped, you could take him for a nice LONG drive in the country-or to the dump! Good Luck!

Zen is laying at my feet. The IV tube is out, the oxygen tube is out and the head-cone is off (I call it an inverted sombrero). His blood oxygen is up to almost 94%. He’s got an almost clean bill of health. All of the hospital staff fell in love with this little guy and the veterinarian who discharged him was frankly amazed at Zen’s rate of recovery.

As per the observations posted here, Zen’s hybrid genetic make-up definitely was a contributing factor in his speedy recovery. I’ve always liked mutts, and now I know why.

To all of you; thank you so much for your kindness and support. When darkness was all around, the light that you all shed into Zen’s and my own life really made a difference. For that I am truly grateful.
MMMWWWAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!

Chris

Fuck. Fucking fuck fuck. I saw the warning, but I stupidly read the OP anyway.

Jesus. That is fucking horrible. I can’t wait to go home (6 weeks to go), and just pet the living hell out of my cats.

Zenster, you are a truly wonderful person. i’m so glad your dog is doing well. horrible question, but did the kitty die?

i’ve had my share of heartless people lately, too. about 8 weeks ago, some scumbags in the “house” next door to us got evicted. 3 weeks after they moved out, the people downstairs from the apartment called the building manager to complain about meowing coming from the empty unit. when she went in, she found a cat lying in the sink, to weak to even lift its head. the cretins moved out and locked the cat in an abandoned apartment!!!

mr. zoot and i took her in, and got an emergency appointment with our vet for her. she is about 2 yrs old, and weighed 4 lbs. when you picked her up, you could actually feel her bones grinding together. amazingly, she tested negative for feline HIV and AIDS, and even after 3 weeks with no food and only the water that was dripping out of the faucet, her liver and kidney functions were normal!

for the first 36 hrs. we had her, all she did was eat and sleep, and no bowel movements for the first 48. there just wasn’t anything in her that needed to come out. after a week, she was up to 5 1/2 lbs. we got her vaccinated, had her “front-lined” because she was covered in fleas, and discovered that she was declawed, but not spayed. after about a week, we started to see her personality, which was really funny. she made the silliest noises i’d ever heard a cat make.

this past friday, weighing 6 1/2 lbs, she went to her new home, with a retired couple who lost their kitty to cancer last year. she will be an indoor cat, and spoiled rotten. if i didn’t already have a zoo of my own, i would have kept her, and mr. zoot really liked her a lot. but, she’s going to be really well cared for, so i feel happy about her new home.

zenster, you are doing a truly great thing. please keep us posted on the outcome of the trial. i hope those nematodes get the longest sentence possible.

Not a horrible question and I don’t blame you if you had your reading glasses off while you were taking in most of this truly agonizing thread.

Sadly, Chubbs The Cat is sharpening his claws on God’s sofa even as we speak.

I just talked with M**** (the guy in the couple that owned Chubbs) earlier today. I told him about this thread and the huge response it has received. That brightened him up a little. Both M**** and his lady, J***** are still devastated, having to go through the usual heartbreaks of calling for Chubbs only to realize that he ain’t gonna come home no more.

M**** is honing his grief by pursuing every single avenue imaginable to make sure these nematodes (I like that term, zoot) get their just desserts (even if we all know that really would have to involve a large barbecue, a flamethrower and significant quantities of napalm). Ready for the good news?

The police impounded the vehicle as a crime scene!

Hearing that really made my day. I hope the bill for their car is so big that they can never get it out of hock. A special strategy just occured to me:

I think that the potential auction of this vehicle needs to be monitored. If we can get the attendees to participate, we might be able to get this car low-bidded if there is a promise to then donate the vehicle to the local animal control office that is handling this case. Better yet, we might even be able to orchestrate the donation of this vehicle to the Chubbs Memorial foundation that is being set up by the Santa Clara County Animal Control Office here in San Jose.

That would be a fitting thing to do. Take the perpetrator’s car, buy it for a song at liquidation and then auction it for hundreds of dollars to support the Memorial foundation. I’m beginning to like this idea a lot. I’ll have to talk this over with M*** and J*****. I’m sure they’ll like the plan. I’ll certainly put up the $50.[sup]00[/sup] low bid for that.

M**** just made sure that the local small town newspaper carried a much more in-depth story about this incident, but he has been unable to recruit the San Jose Mercury News (our major rag) to run a big story. I’m going to roust them a bit too, but if I don’t get any results either I do have the name of a reporter for one of the biggest San Francisco newpapers, The Chronicle. I’ve already told M**** that I’d hook them up. San Francisco’s population is famous for their love of pets. I think we’ll be able to skunk the Mercury into carrying the story out of sheer competition.

Anyway, I just wanted to check in with the latest news. These little scumbags are going to be arrainged on October fourth. I don’t know if I’ll be able to make that trial date, but I’ve reassured M**** that I’ll be there for the sentencing, at least. I also told him that we would have to open a bottle of wine to celebrate afterwards. I’ve got a bottle of Perrier-Jouet Champagne earmarked for the occasion. We’ll all drink (I just couldn’t use the word toast right there) to the memory, of Chubbs. I’ve also told M**** to give my number to any of the people who also lost pets to these monsters if they need help of any sort. I still hope these little shits rot in Hell. If ever Hell was designed for something, these two monsters fill the bill.

i still want them to end up as my reccomendation.

living an eternity of pain as gibbering bags of boneless flesh in the first plane of Baator or perhaps the Abyss sounds like a good afterlife for people like this.
plain ol’ hell is good too, though.

Tansu, thank you for kind words from overseas.

saepiroth, Thanks for doing the reasearch work. Novel ideas are always welcome when faced with such vileness. It pays to be inventive when thinking about the proper punishment for such as them.

Fenris, How can someone who likes to feed people as much as you not like animals?

**AndYrAStar **, don’t worry, I’m reconsidering the wisdom of my previous practices.

Peta Tzunami, thank you so much for the accurate link. I can see now that there is indeed another party that might have need of my help.

Little Bird, I know what you mean. It’s already proven that exposure to humans causes cancer in rats. Looks like its pretty dangerous for the larger animals too.

Venoma, without directly quoting your own suggested description, let me applaud it nonetheless.

pugluvr, I’m already aware of how deeply you and your husband love your little furballs. You decorated in the color of their coats, didn’t you? Thanks for wishing Zen well.

Nostradamus, thank you. I’ll try to accept your generous predicitions as to the worth of my efforts.

missbunny, I’m sure with your clinic work you’re almost over being stunned by man’s inhumanity to animals anymore.

moggy, I’ll do my best to get them the stiffest sentences possible.

Velvet Jones, thanks for de-lurking and wishing the mutt well. He’s laying at my feet and nearly totally recovered.

LifeOnWry, one year and/or $20,000 at maximum is nowhere near enough justice in this case. That’s why I’m doing my best to help the couple with advice on their civil case.

Baker, I’ll try to keep the thread up to date, but that since they’ve admitted to the crime, I fear these two will plead guilty right away and avoid a jury trial. I need to burn the edited photo CD for them this weekend so they will have it in evidence for the arraignment.

TwistofFate, my hound’s hearing is excellent and I agree that he’d be annoyed as Hades with an ultrasonic squealer downstairs.

MLC, I can never imagine giving up the phase, “…a rat’s ass!”, even if I had to. Thanks for wishing Zen well.

Nightingale, thank for caring about Zen. I’ll give him a scratchies for you.

elelle, I’ll do my best to live up of your estimation of me. Thanks for your good wishes.

zoogirl, it looks like Zen is on his way to many more years now, thanks for thinking of him.

Zaphod Beeblebrox, pet 'dem kitties for me too! Life’s too short not to have pets.

naughty wicked zoot, thanks for opening an animal clinic of your own at Castle Anthrax. Now, what was it that came after the spankings?

Well, it’s midnight and I’m turning into a pumpkin, but I just wanted to let you that it’s nice to see so many people care about this. I know it will warm the hearts of the owners when they see this thread and all of your musings.

As a side bar, this evening I chatted at length with a woman who was kind enough to Instant Message me with good wishes for Zen’s recovery. It turns out that her eight year old son wants to be a veterinarian when he grows up. Severe burns he suffered in his childhood will prevent him from some pursuits, but I’m going to try and get him a tour of the emergency clinic (mentioned in the linked article) to inspire him about his choice. We’ll see what happens.

Thank You All,

Chris
[sup]MORE BULLETINS AS EVENTS WARRANT![/sup]

Zenster, thank you so much for all the effort. I guess it sounds kind of weak, but we all mean it. As a baker by trade, wish I could send you cookies or something, and I have a recipe for home baked dog biscuits I’ll bet Zen would like. Take care.

hmm… you like inventiveness…

howsabout a spinning column with strips of paper streching off it at angles while it spins, held close to them? alternated with a lemon juice misting array?

paper cuts and lemon juice are always good tortures…

Zenster, I’ll never get over it. Last night I was watching Law & Order - an episode about those scum who train dogs to fight. They showed the training room (“S&M for dogs,” the cops called it) and the fighting pit, and said that the main dog of the storyline had been tortured to make him fight. This poor dog, who had at one time been normal according to the breeder, was a vicious killer. And I was bawling - over a fictional dog. Sometimes I think I can’t bear it anymore.

I am so glad to hear that Zen is doing better. To tell you the truth, I thought he was a goner. Sometimes they surprise you with their resilience.

Hmmm… for some reason <pervert> that sounds too kinky to be punishment for me</pervert> but I have a feeling that’s just the mood I’m in.

Zenster, glad to hear your doggy is feeling better  I still don’t think my description was depraved and inhuman enough to suit them. I’m thinking on it.

zenster, we all have a responsibility on this planet. i’m just living up to mine, and i thank you for living up to yours. the kitty gods are smiling on you now.

bad boy.:stuck_out_tongue:

I’ll probably get flamed for this, but I’m getting used to that.

I find it frightening how everyone wants to torture these guys. That’s where extremism gets started. Extremism always ends up hurting other people and animals as well. No one in their right mind would defend what these freaks did to those animals, and Zenster was right on top of things legally and deserves our applause for it. But I think we all need to keep our emotions in check. I think it’s pretty clear that these punks are going to be hammered pretty hard by the legal system. They’ll obviously have to undergo some kind of therapy and do some time (hopefully with a permanent record so that they have a warning light attached to them). To want to beat or torture these punks is just as scary as letting them go free.

My heart goes out to the cat owners and you Zenster for having to deal with all of this garbage.
