Warning! VCO3 Will Tamper With Your Food!

I don’t know if this is Stockholm Syndrome working overtime or what, but I think you’re really neat.

Oh great. Now I have expectations to live up to. Sheesh!

Of course, I’m ALWAYS watching. wink

Thank you, fluiddruid.

Digging through the trash is nothing; sure it’s humiliating, but she got her ring back. The guy that threw it in the trash is a hero compared to what you were suggesting you’d do. Unless I’m missing a part of the story where he threw it out several days prior and there was a healthy chance the trash had been picked up; in which case you’d both be equally deplorable, no matter what the person had done. Short of inflicting physical harm to the waitstaff or stealing some of their property first, people are still human beings. I can only imagine that if you view that behavior as “fitting,” it stands to reason that you bring negative treatment upon yourself due to your inherent attitude towards others.

I’ve worked in customer service in one form or another since I was old enough to legally work, and I’ve dealt with many, many, MANY irate customers, few of whom were justified, and I have never once taken any action toward revenge. I may have thought about it, but that was more for cathartic purposes than anything else. I’ve had customers request me specifically by name, and sent me good luck cards when informed that I was leaving the company I’d been working for. I’ve received around a dozen offers for employment from customers impressed with my service after witnessing me deal with obtuse customers, but I’ve never had one complaint. I’ve even had customers who were irate/rude/obnoxious come back into the store days later and apologize to me personally for how they’d acted, citing that my polite treatment of them weighed on their conscience. And I was definitely not the exception to the rule at the various places I worked, either.

My point is not to pat myself on the back for doing what I was supposed to be doing, but rather to show that it’s the vindictive types such as yourself that make things harder for EVERYONE int he service industry; these irate customers come in with a low expectation of the service they’ll receive because they’ve run into people like you before. Bad service breeds bad customers, and it just ends up being a vicious cycle. The old adage of “killing with kindness” is by far and away the best way to go in the service industry.

Sorry about the length; it’s easy for me to go off about something I like doing, and I like doing customer service… even WITH the obnoxious customers

Not only that, but she knows if you’ve been bad or good.

You’ve all been bad.

:: Suspiciously :: Are you being sarcastic?

I noticed that you didn’t specifically disavow pinching the butts of cute girls, or grabbing the arm of your waitstaff as they passed by.

That’s it! We’re making a very special WonTon Soup for you!

What, like with some kind of magic Scrying pool of something?

but in a good way,right?

Hey, is this that “Mod Brown-Nosing” that I’ve heard so much about?

Wait! You’re also a mod! Are you all allowed to brown-nose one another?

I’ve worked in several restaurants up til now, and I’ve never noticed any spitting in food or other such asshatterry. At my current job we do get impolite patrons occassionally, but seeing as we are a members-only dining club, we dont take things personally.

And I’m also curious about what you do now VC03.

I think he’s playing Goofy at Disney World. Beware, Auto.

Teaches an anger management couse.

Seriously, VC03, I don’t know how old you are, but if you are over about age 16, you are too old for your bitter/resentful/whiny/the-world-is-out-to-get-me schtick. I know, I know, you are all alternative/out-of-the-mainstream and no one understands you, but I can’t tell you how many of us have been there. If you think no one here understands your life, you are completely wrong. For some reason, you seem to believe that no one here has ever worked a menial job, but I can assure you the vast majority of us have, and we all know where you are at in life right now. For the most part, it sucks, I know. But if you have half a brain, which I think you do, you will work your ass off at your menial job, and sooner or later you will find yourself in a “real” job. And then you will see that just because someone has worked hard and made something of themselves, it doesn’t mean they look down on waiters or anyone else in the service profession. My advice to you: grow up, figure out that the people you resent so much are not the source of your problems, and get a life. Seriously.

You think that’s bad? I read somewhere that Jodi would make you a slave. (It’s rumored she has two cabins behind her house filled with servers who pissed her off and now they have to sing spirituals by night and plant cucumbers by day.)

No, I’m completely serious. Arguing with you makes me feel like I’m in a 1940’s sex comedy.

he’s a Giraffe, isn’t a brown nose standard issue?

Not that kind of slave.

I’m sure I will live to regret posting without reading the entire thread, but I have two points.

  1. VCO3 posts stupid shit all the time, leading me to believe he has less sense than god gave a rake.

  2. Sadly, he’s completely correct that if you fuck with waiters, they will fuck with your food. Not in every restaurant. Not every waiter. But enough to make fucking with waiters a bad idea. Please note - I do not condone this - I find it appalling and the mark of a very small, trollish person to contaminate another’s food. I’ve NEVER done anything of the sort. Furthermore, I’ve removed contaminated food from circulation (food not intended for a specific customer, but contaminated in general and put out for service by the General Manager of the restaurant chain I worked for - also the owner’s son. Lovely). However, I’ve seen people’s food fucked with. I seen it spit in and horked in and all sorts of other disgusting shit. Dropped on the floor, etc. Every single time the waitron in question justified it by saying “That customer is an asshole/bitch/etc.” and they feel no remorse for their reprehensible acts.

So, as much as I think VCO3’s gleeful claim to contaminating food makes him a dick of the highest degree, he’s certainly not alone.

So - don’t be rude to waitstaff. Not that rudeness warrents food tampering, but it might result in it.
