Oh, gosh, I mis-typed the first word in the book title. Must mean I have no familiarity with the book – in fact, I picked those three words out and strung them together completely at random; imagine my surprise that they form the title of a book at all! And I’ll get uppity all over your ass anytime I want to.
Yes, as is indicated by the phrase “What the person who originally posted said . . . .” Read for comprehension.
Again, I’d love for the guy that told the ring story to come in and tell the actual backstory behind it - what the woman did to deserve to have to “dig through garbage in her high heels while crying.” I really wonder what she did to deserve it!
Exactly! This is why I’m taking issue with what VC03 is saying. I have no use for people who think theft is an acceptable way to express displeasure. Cowardly scum!
I wasn’t telling that story as a “be more like me” tale, VCO, and I’m sorry if that’s how it came across. You’re right that there are a shitload of managers who’d have fired her on the spot, and they’d have pretty good arguments for doing so; those same managers would probably call me weak for doing what I did.
The point of the story is that that waitress had a certain honesty to her that I could respect. She could just as easily have let off her steam via the burger-to-the-floor method, and she might have gotten away with it. Those customers, though, are going to turn right around and do the same thing to some other waiter, and the only thing she gains is the chance to be fired and the knowledge that a couple of pricks ate some dust unawares.
It may look like I’m advocating being rude to customers; I’m not. While I despise the concept of simply “sucking it up”, I believe there are ways to stand up for oneself without bringing rudeness or revenge into it. All I’m saying is that if, for whatever reason, it comes down to one or the other…if you must violate your professionalism, do it for the sake of integrity rather than underhandedness. You’ll sleep better, and you’ll be the victim of far fewer message-board dogpiles.
You really are insane, aren’t you? Revenge is not an acceptable social past time! When you are going through the court system, look back on all the times you posted, and dreamt and mentally jacked off to the idea of “revenge” and know that you have only yourself to blame for your downfall. Vigilante justice isn’t a viable solution for rudeness or stupidity.
I shouldn’t even bite, but I resent being called a “troll” when I actively participate in every other forum on this board. Just because some of my views are disagreeable doesn’t make me a troll.
Was Ezra Pound a troll just because he was an anti-semite? What about Heidegger?
I’m fine with the title being changed and hereby request it, though I will point out that the title is not “dishonest” but accurately reflects what appeared to be your POV in the linked thread. Since that appearance is incorrect, the thread title can certainly be changed.
If this post is not sufficient to accomplish that, then tell me what you want done – do I e-mail, report this post, or what? I’ve never asked for a changed title before.
Of course. I’m not here to fuck around. I’m here to have discussions. If my views aren’t popular, that’s fine, but don’t insinuate that I’m just here to cause issues. I start nearly an OP a day in Cafe Society for one.
Ezra Pound was an anti-semite. Martin Heidegger was essentially a nazi. Both were brilliant.
Are you seriously comparing yourself to Ezra Pound and Heidegger? How do you get out of your bedroom in the morning with your personality disorder taking up so much of the available space?
