Was Giuliani's comment on Fox a fireable gaff, or a deliberate pre-release?

It’s her arrogance that makes me want to punch her in her face.

But to answer the question of the op, I think it was a deliberate pre-release that the president will now try to play off as a gaffe. I suspect Rudy will not be in the job long.

True, he did have high standards of efficiencies. Evil, but efficient.

I wonder if it is possible that Giuliani has found himself disillusioned with Trump and committed a deliberate act of sabotage. He basically said “of course he paid the porn star off and used money laundering tactics to hide the payments he made! But that’s how it goes and he’s the President so it can’t be illegal when he does it!” If the Trump Administration is a machine of grinding gears, Giuliani just dropped his wooden shoe right in there.

I did feel a momentary twinge of sympathy for SHS watching the WHCD remarks. The “uncle Tom for white women” remark cut her deep! But then I remembered who I was looking at and how she has earned every bad thing that happens to her. If she can’t handle criticism she’s really going to dislike prison.

Horsehockey, as Sherman Potter used to say. I am so sick of this meme. I dare him to try.

I believe we have a volunteer!

Will Mueller subpoena Trump? Let’s ask Rudy Giuliani:

Brilliant! It either will happen, or it won’t. This guy is some kind of genius lawyer.

If what RG said was true or not, didn’t he attempt to obstruct justice either way?

Whether any of this had a good reason is completely up to what actually happened, (What the actual legal risks are) which donald knows but we don’t.

Let’s say he is guilty as hell. Then it might have been the best thing to do.

It’s sounding more and more like a muddy the waters attempt.
Rudy Giuliani: Cohen might have paid other women for Trump ‘if necessary’
If they can make the payments to Stormy Daniels sound like just another payment to someone trying to get money from Trump, then maybe the case can be made that this had nothing to do with the election, and is just business as usual.

Imho, there is no grand strategy with Giuliani as RudyG is just a dotty old man who doesn’t know when to shut up.

… Giving your lawyer $35k/month to make problems “go away”, and your lawyer does some things illegally, blows away any attorney/client privilege. Who the fuck would admit to such a thing? Not even Cohen/Trump were that stupid.

… “My client has done the same with other women” merely asks the Feds (not Mueller) to look into those transactions as well. Cohen must have heard that and screamed curses in the air.

… “We funnelled money”. Who funnels money? As said on SNL, when you hit your grandma up for $10 did she just funnel you money?

(By the way, rewatch that Hannity moment - anyone catch that it was Hannity who suggested to RudyG that the money was funnelled through a “law firm”? So many in the press missed this, but it happened - Hannity threw Rudy a lifeline.)

… “I don’t know the facts”. Literally irrelevant, and dangerous if so. He is speaking on behalf of the President as his attorney, so SHUT UP RUDY IF YOU DON’T KNOW THE FACTS!

… SHS signed up for this shitshow. The fact that we can see her change, as this job is changing her, making her accept things she was raised to reject (adultery, pornography, lying), doesn’t make her any less culpable. SHS, I think, was a True Believer, a true-blue Trump supporter who was comfortable ignoring the “lies” as she could explain them away with her ignorance, like the rest of the base. But now, not only has she learned they are not lies, she is now responsible for promulgating them.

The SHS character arc has promise to be one of the most interesting in this entire Clusterfuck. Will she break, and leave the Trump Administration needing years of therapy and suffer PTSD, as suggested above? Or will she kill the person she was in order to become the person the Trump Administration needs? Truly fascinating stuff.

If it was deliberate, Sarah Sanders sure wasn’t in the meeting. She seemed off balance about it.

There are logical reasons why this would be a deliberate move and it’s a strong possibility, but I think it has to be consdiered that it’s also a possibility it wasn’t. Let’s be clear on a few things:

  1. Trump is churning through lawyers (and other staff) like it’s a poorly managed fast food joint,
  2. There is no evidence whatsoever that Trump can identify employees with sufficient talent to perform at this level, and
  3. Giuliani is old and clearly not as sharp as he used to be.

It’s not a huge stretch to suppose Giuliani (and Trump) screwed up.

As I posited in one of the other threads, going from AG of the SDNY to Mayor of NYC to “lead attorney repping a criminal enterprise in control of the country” might be a bit too drastic of a career change to make, especially for a man in his 70s. His instincts and habits are all wrong for this.

Plus, he never liked Trump all that much anyway.

I just don’t get the SHS thing. The press are covering the recent fuckup as “Has SHS lost credibility?”
What credibility? She’s lied constantly, from day 1. And like I say, I think she’s worse than Spicer, as at least he rarely insulted people.

Every press conference goes like this:

Journalist 1: “Why did Trump first say A, then B, then say B was fake news, and what actually is his position now?”
SHS: “I think Trump’s comments are clear to anyone with a brain. Next question.”
Journalist 2: “I’m going to ask an unrelated question, so ignoring that you didn’t answer the previous question, and give you the chance to handwave another one”
GOTO 10

I still say it was deliberate.

Everything Rudy said is going to be confirmed at one point or another.

This just in: Rudy dismisses the things he said about Trump as “rumors”.

^ Sounds like Rudy is halfway to Drool City. :smack:

Sound like Rudy offered a succinct insight to the problems of the modern GOP and their supporters with that last…

I had the same thought. She has no more credibility than any other presidential spokesliar, and arguably much less than the average. I can’t see any point to articles like that, except as an effort to annoy her personally. It’s not as though she’s going to have a sudden epiphany— oh my God, my credibility with the American people is at stake— and vow to tell only the truth from now on.

Her job is to be a punching bag that dispenses bullshit, and the supply is endless.

And The Great Cheeto is starting to get jealous of Rudy’s air-time:

Trump growing irritated at Rudy Giuliani’s media blitz, comments on Stormy Daniels: sources

Basic rule of this [del]Mob[/del] White House: don’t get more air time than the Godfather.
