The LB-ers are a scary lot. Most of you will agree with me on this. But I really want to know, was I that corny, and rude when I first came along? I look at what Victoria, and her merry band are doing, and it depresses me. It’s just so…damaging to the name of Jesus.
So, I’d really like to know your opinions on this. And be honest.

Don’t know if you’ll see this in the Pit, where I posted it. So here it is.
To add further. Adam, I think at times you got blinded by zeal and were rude. BUT, I did not, and do not now, think you were as bad as they are currently being. If you could see some of the comments they made on certain threads over there…I know you wouldn’t do that. (You can see my commentary on the threads in question here in the “David B and others” thread.) I believe you have a good heart, even if I disagree with you on matters of faith.
And now that I’ve ruined my sarcastic reputation, I’ll slink out the back door.

Actually, I think that their behavior all along had been similar to that exhibited by some monastics in the Middle Ages: confronted by a world with which they could neither cope nor understand, they’ve retreated into their fortress of a message board, and come out only to indulge in tactics that show their complete incomprehension of their professed beliefs.
I was looking forward to debating the nature and identity of Messiah with them, but I see that they skedaddled too fast.
Assuming that the named are willing to serve, I suggest that the next such “invasion” be met by a committee of pldennison and *David B.

if by corny you mean throwing out bible verses like gangbangers throwing down hand signs, yeah, you were & probably still are.
but you weren’t willfully obnoxious. as falcon said, you seem to have a good heart. you just can’t see past the end of your religion, where you leave off & others start.
meeting up w/ this people might be a lesson to you, adam. even tho you’re more low-key, the way you present your message is just as hard-headed & to many people nearly as annoying.

You know, one of my neighbors used to drive a Falcon once. It had one of its taillight lenses turned inside-out, so it looked like a donut with a cone-shaped hole in the middle, rather than the usual Falcon taillight shape of a crater with a conical mountain in the center.
I took photos of its taillights with my little 126 cartridge-film camera and everything.
got a question for you, tom, but it seems you don’t have an e-mail address. if you’re tom(moreorless), does (moreorless)ndebb ever post? i’ve often wondered.
btw, adam, i don’t mean to be mean to you; but please stop acting so innocent. you were told about 1,000 times how annoying your presentation is, even tho many people see you as sincere.

ARG220…I don’t know how you acted before as I am new here also. But it appears to me that there was a misunderstanding and misconception as to the Theology Board at Left Behind. It should have read “Christian Theology Board”, then that would not have left them wide open for “debate” and it would have then not caused such a fuss every time someone would come on and view their opinions that didn’t agree with theirs.
I am just happy to say that this site was passed on to me and I’ve gotten a kick out of reading the many posts here on this board.

To Adam: What scares you about the L-Bers (who are they, anyway?)? Could it be that they (seriously large & sarcastic gasp) deign to have a religion different than yours?
To all others: The fact remains that until Adam (ARG220) accepts the reality of other faiths being religions, then he is still embarked on an unwanted mission to evangelize the rest of us.

Great to hear from you again! In answer to your question, umm, ya, well, pretty much. I think you were a lot like our new friend, Victoria, posting a lot of scripture, but not really addressing the issues. I’m actually surprised that you don’t agree with the LB’s. Seems you’re not as crazy as I thought
I hope that seeing the LBers in action has helped you better understand the way you come off to others.

Most of the debates started on The Narrow Road by us Straight Dopers dealt with Evolution. There are plenty of Christians out there – including the Pope – who have ho problem with Evolution.

The important difference Adam is that, to the best of my recollection, you were never trying to be annoying. Many of the LBMB crowd came here with the intent to harass and are using their religious beliefs as a weapon.
It’s also true that some people on this board go out of their way to insult people for their religious beliefs. In my opinion, it’s just as bigoted to insult a person for being Christian as it is to insult them for being black or gay or female.
Finally, I’d like to say, that while I have left the majority of the witnessing thread unread, some of the posters I have seen seem to have the potential to become real contributors to this board. I’d like to invite those of you who may be reading this to put aside the confrontation and become part of the community here.
Maybe. If I do, it will be on a more limited basis than before. I was on a mission before. But now, I’d rather just pop in and “contribute” once in a while.

Adam: I wasn’t here when you were posting originally, I have been accused of “being” you. But, I don’t believe I have seen the kind of behavior “en mass” that they exhibited here unless it was a small portion of our people that went over and bothered them in the first place ( and I am not sure that the few in our group behaved as poorly as they have here).
So though I can’t say from experience, I would answer, NO way Jose!

adam, i started reading sdmb in the spring sometime but didn’t start to post until december. you don’t know me in any other incarnation (or any flower at all!).

In addition to tracer’s cogent response, I’d like to point out that, as a born-again for thirty years come September, my comments on the “Narrow Road” forum of the LBMB were most certainly from a strongly Christian perspective. It just wasn’t theirs, which was enough to set them off.
I posted something near the bottom of p.14 of the now-infamous “For David B…” thread about the differences between the two boards, in response to a newcomer from there who wanted to join the discussion, but thought she might be entering the lion’s den. Thrifty, feel free to check it out and post back.
